Where to Watch ABC’s Specials Honoring Disney Legend Barbara Walters

As 2022 drew to a close, we said goodbye to a pioneer in the broadcast industry.

On December 30th, 2022, Barbara Walters passed away at age 93 after decades in the industry, including her work on well-known programs such as Today, the ABC Evening News, and 20/20.

In recognition of her career, ABC News is presenting two new specials to honor Walters. She joined ABC News back in 1976 and was the co-host and chief correspondent for 20/20 for 25 years. The first special, titled Our Barbara: A Special Edition of 20/20, will include her most iconic interviews, behind the scenes footage, and interviews with past colleagues. This two-hour special will premiere on Sunday, January 1st at 8pm on ABC and will be available on Hulu for streaming on January 2nd.

In 1997, Walters created The View, a show that paved the way for countless women in journalism. In The View Honors Barbara Walters, we will see unforgettable moments from the show as well as hear from the legend herself on her past and how it led to the woman we became familiar with on tv. The special also covers her final days as co-host and the emotional last episode where 25 female journalists surprised Walters to show their appreciate for her work. The View Honors Barbara Walters will be available on Hulu for streaming by January 2nd.

Those across the ABC and Disney company expressed their remorse at the loss of a Disney Legend. Disney CEO Bob Iger recently shared “I had the pleasure of calling Barbara a colleague for more than three decades, but more importantly, I was able to call her a dear friend.”
