The Last Big Construction Updates of 2022 in Disney World

We’re heading into the new year at Disney World, and there will be a LOT of construction to watch in 2023!

Changes are coming to BoardWalk

We’ve got some major projects going on in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, as well as new restaurants at Hollywood Studios, the BoardWalk, and Disney Springs. During Christmas week, we made sure to check up on some of the major projects in the parks, and we have updates to share!

Magic Kingdom

Let’s start out with the TRON coaster at Magic Kingdom, where the finishing touches are being added to the landscaping. The entire walkway leading to the ride has been paved, and now we’re just waiting on the final plants to arrive.

As you can see, there was one planter left that was waiting to be filled. Once all this is complete, the exterior is going to look great!

As we get closer and closer to the opening of the ride, we’ve seen more testing happen in recent weeks. 2023 will be the year when we finally get to hop aboard TRON Lightcycle Run!

EPCOT

Moving on over to EPCOT, we’ve got an update with the construction happening in the middle of the park. Progress continues with CommuniCore Hall, with small additions being made to the outside of the structure.

More dirt was moved around near Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana as well. The path has been carved out for the walkthrough attraction, but it looks like they’re starting to work on the area outside the new addition.

We’re interested to see what all the “in-between” looks like once the EPCOT transformation is complete.

Hollywood Studios

And finally, we’ve got Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land! Not much has changed here, as the restaurant is still blocked by tarps and walls. It’s set to open in the spring.

Since it was a holiday week, we didn’t see too many changes with construction projects, but we imagine they’ll be kicking into gear in the new year! The Walt Disney World Railroad just reopened at Magic Kingdom, which means we’ll be able to get new angles for TRON construction photos as the ride opening draws nearer.

Those are all the updates on construction we have right now, but we can’t wait for these projects to get official opening dates! Stay tuned to AllEars for the latest details when those are announced.
