If you’re planning a trip, especially one with a long flight, you might find yourself agonizing over the various airlines and types of seats available.

There are a lot of things to consider when picking an airline or seat type including the airline’s overall customer rating, their average rates of losing or breaking customer bags, and more. But soon one airline will be throwing something NEW into the mix for you to consider.
According to an American Airlines press release a special premium flight experience is coming — NEW Flagship Suite Seats. USA Today points out that this is meant to be a consolidation of American Airlines’ existing Flagship First and Flagship Business classes.
What’s Happening?
American Airlines is getting NEW deliveries of two aircraft —
Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787-9 — beginning in 2024. With the arrival of these aircraft, American Airlines will unveil its NEW Flagship Suite premium seats and a reimagined aircraft interior specifically for its long-haul fleet.

As you walk into the Boeing 787-9 you’ll actually even see a panel illuminated by the American Airlines flight symbol to start your journey and set the stage.
Flagship Suite Seats
What’s special about the Flagship Suite seats, you ask? Good question! These seats are said to offer customers a more “private premium experience.” They’ll have a privacy door, a chaise lounge seating option, and more personal storage space.

These flagship suites can also be converted to a lie-flat position so you can catch up on sleep before your next travel destination.

The Boeing 787-9 will have 51 Flagship Suite seats.

If you’ll be traveling with someone else and want to eat together or share your space, there will be a way to do that with these Flagship Suites.

On the Airbus A321XLR, there will be 20 Flagship Suite seats once it gets delivered in 2024.

The flagship suites on that plane will also give customers that private inflight experience.

While you’ll find these seat types on the new planes coming to American Airlines, American will also be retrofitting some of its planes to have Flagship Suite seats. Specifically, its 20 Boeing 777-300ER planes will be “refreshed” with the new interior design starting in late 2024.
Premium Economy Seats
In addition to the Flagship Suites, American Airlines is also adding more Premium Economy seats to its long-haul aircraft and giving them an updated look.

The new custom-designed seats create more privacy and even double the amount of in-seat storage.

These seats have headrest wings to add a bit more privacy to your experience and they have bigger in-seat entertainment screens too.

The Airbus A321XLR will have 12 Premium Economy seats, while the Boeing 787-9 will have 32 Premium Economy seats.
Overall
Thanks to these changes, American Airlines will have new interiors on its long-haul fleet, and premium seating on its long-haul fleet will increase by MORE than 45% by 2026.

American Airlines is also refreshing its Admirals Club lounges. The first of the redesigned lounges will open at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport this fall.

If you’re looking for an upgraded flight experience, these premium options might be just the thing you’re looking for. Keep an eye out for their arrival in the upcoming years.
