One Airline Is Stopping Service to Orlando International Airport

How do you get to Disney World? Do you drive or do you fly?

Do you drive to Disney World?

Both modes of travel have seen a lot of changes recently, with gas prices continuing to fluctuate in the United States (though they are now beginning to trend downward) and many flights getting canceled daily. Some airlines have chosen to reduce flights or to stop service entirely to certain airports. Now, another airline has announced that service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) will be ending soon.

Hawaiian Airlines recently announced that it will stop service between Honolulu and Orlando beginning on September 7th due to staffing issues and the current price of fuel, according to Click Orlando. It is expected that any individuals who have a Hawaiian Airlines flight booked between Orlando and Honolulu after September 7th will be refunded.

This is just the latest in a stream of airlines that are altering service due to high costs and limited staff. American Airlines has dropped four cities from service and Delta Airlines is canceling multiple flights per day.  4th of July weekend also saw an incredibly high number of travelers that airlines just couldn’t keep up with resulting in over 1,000 flights being canceled in the days leading up to the holiday.

With the ongoing pilot shortage, it’s getting harder and harder to fly these days. And that’s not the only problem. The price to fly is also increasing, leaving many Americans unwilling or unable to travel this summer.

Will you be flying soon?

Cancellations and shortages may be hitting the airline industry hard, but Orlando International Airport is still moving forward with plans to open its third terminal, Terminal C, this year. There is lots coming to Terminal C, like new technology, plus lots of restaurants and shopping. It will service between 10 and 12 million passengers annually, from 11 total airlines.

And more airlines are announcing that they would be starting service to Orlando International Airport like Breeze Airways, a relatively new airline.

  1. That blows! We flew back from Honolulu last Sept nonstop, it was great! Hopefully someone else will have a nonstop flight. We’re going back soon.

  2. Breeze is another airline with issues. I had to book with a different airline for a trip to Disneyland next month. At least I had time to make new flights at higher cost. Some people had almost no warning.
