A sure sign that Nature is healing is the gradual re-introduction of on-site conventions. This year, WonderCon is the first of the major cons to start up again at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The schedule and exhibitors still run a little light this year, as they did for Comic-Con Special Edition last year–few of the big studios or publishing companies had booths on the exhibitor’s floor.
One company that was there with bells on, however, was Funko, who debuted their most themed booth ever: “Freddy’s Beach Bash live from Pop Pier!”
A plethora of all-new Funko figurines was unveiled–these are shared exclusives with WonderCon and select retailers. The WonderCon figures are packaged with a special limited edition sticker.
The big sellers on Friday appeared to be the She-Ra figurine, which was sold out for the day by 2pm, and the soda pops which come with the possibility of getting a chase variant.
Stouthearted shoppers who make it through the queue to get into the booth are rewarded with a short stage show complete with tropical dancers and giveaways while they wait to purchase a Pop of their own.
