We’ve got an update on Universal Orlando’s newest theme park!

The Epic Universe theme park was announced back in 2019 and slated for a 2023 opening, but construction was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic. Universal Orlando has since announced that the park is expected to open in early 2025 and, though we may be a few years away, it’s already starting to take shape!
According to The Orlando Sentinel, the first structures can finally be seen in an ariel view of the park!

At the time that the photos were taken, one of the buildings had construction crews and workers were operating a crane and other construction equipment.

However, the rest of the land remains seemingly undeveloped right now.

If you’re not familiar with Epic Universe, it is set to be located about 2 miles southeast of Universal Orlando Resort and will feature a theme park, its very own shopping and dining district, and hotels.
Attractions and lands are set to be inspired by Dreamworks (Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon), Illumination (Despicable Me, Secret Life of Pets), and Super Nintendo World.

Universal hasn’t revealed much about the construction progress (or even the park for that matter), but it does appear that part of the project will involve extending Kirkman Road to connect to the theme park, which may already be underway according to a recent sale of land.
The Orlando Sentinel also reports that most of the construction permits that have been filed so far involve “plumbing and fire systems,” though there is a pending hotel permit from an architecture firm that will be working on the project.

We’ll keep you posted as we receive more news about Epic Universe’s construction progress and opening. And, in the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest theme park updates!
