The holidays have already begun in Disney World and we’ve been bringing you a look as the parks and resorts transform into a winter wonderland this week.
We’ve seen the GIANT Christmas trees arrive at the parks, garland (with a golden touch) line storefronts, and holiday merchandise start to arrive. But, it’s not just the parks that are celebrating this year, the iconic gingerbread structures are BACK in select hotels this year and we stopped by Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to see how it was taking shape!
If you’re not familiar, each year (aside from 2020), the lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian gets a full-sized gingerbread house that is made out of REAL gingerbread and houses a small gingerbread shop once completed. And, it’s a multi-step process to create this HUGE centerpiece — it begins with the clearing of the lobby…
…and then the structure is built (which we saw earlier this week!).
But, now the construction crews have cleared and the bakery team has taken over in the lobby covering it in gingerbread, frosting, chocolate, and more.
It’s a pretty incredible process to watch as bakers hop up on scaffolding, stand on the roof, and surround the house to bring to life this holiday tradition.
It takes a lot of people to bring this to life!

And, no detail is spared! If you look up close at the windows, you can see that they’re lit from the inside (like someone is living there) and each window frame features a different Disney character or two…
…and other winter icons.
Plus, the bakers even add in some extra special details like these heart-shaped gingerbread cookies that line the peak of the roof.
There are more decorations to come too before the gingerbread house is officially completed on November 10th, including some chocolate candy canes, snowmen, and nutcrackers.
The gingerbread house will be on display in the lobby through January 1st, 2022, so be sure to stop by and check it out! And, in the meantime, stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Disney news and updates!

The Blue Santa rocks! I read that the first Santa in Germany was actually blue. It reminded me of the fresco I saw in Italy recently from the 13th century which depicted OG Satan aka the devil as blue!
