It’s a big day for Disney World guests who are also Star Wars fans!

Today, Annual Passholders and DVC members can book the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel for voyages from March 1st-May 4th, 2022. We’ve already checked out the incredibly long phone waits and shared our experience booking as Annual Passholders, but for DVC members, there may be an unexpected issue — the price.
We already knew that this new experience would be expensive based on the sample pricing that Disney released, but it’s an entirely different kind of expensive for DVC members. The options START at 295 points per departure, per person!

According to the new points charts posted on the Disney Vacation Club website, point costs go all the way up to 1355 points for a solo passenger wanting to stay in a Grand Captain’s Suite. That price is specifically for weekends during the Spring Break season.

However, if you’re an adult or child looking to stay in one of the regular rooms, you’re likely going to have to shell out around 300-450 points per person, depending on your travel dates. That’s certainly not cheap!

And if you’re not a DVC member and you’re wondering what all of this means, let us put it in perspective: you could stay in a one-bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower (right next to Magic Kingdom!) for a whole week for around 280-360 points. And that’s a total price, not per person! The Galactic Starcruiser price only includes 2 days of accommodations and experience, and it gets more expensive per guest.

In fact, if you instead decided to do two days at one of the over-water bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, then you would only be spending 133-237 points per night to stay on a Friday or Saturday. You could do both nights (in a bungalow that sleeps 8!) for the cost of one person going to the new Star Wars hotel.

The room looks really uncomfortable. I would definitely just stay somewhere else.
I thought the cash prices were bad, but these points costs are downright insulting! Again only the very rich ir very cost foolish will pay these prices. They want even more $$ out of the most loyal Disney fans I remember thinking and hoping when the hotel was first announced that DVC points could be transfered into the hotel. But like a real cruise you’re better off renting your points and paying cash. (better not paying at all)
Am I seeing things or is it cheaper to visit with an imaginary child than as a solo adult?
Whether you happen to feel it’s right or wrong, because of the all inclusive nature of this “experience” Disney is basing prices for the Star Wars hotel on prices for a Disney cruise. The real question not addressed in this article is how the number DVC points needed for the two compare. From my experience as a DVC member, I think they are somewhat comparable as a Disney Cruise also costs many more points than the best hotel accommodations.
Is that based on a two night cruise?
