After a long day in Disneyland, sometimes you just need to treat yourself to the ultimate form of relaxation — a spa day!

And, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is ready to give you the best spa trip because a brand NEW Tenaya Stone Spa is opening at the resort! After delays due to the resort’s closure, guests were finally able to book reservations at the spa ahead of its grand opening today. We’re taking you with us to see the new Tenaya Stone Spa!
The Tenaya Stone Spa is a massive 6,000 square feet with eight treatment rooms, two rooms for couples massage, four manicure and pedicure chairs, a relaxation lounge, men’s and women’s changing rooms, and a retail boutique.

Guests have a wide array of services to choose from, including even different massage services, three herbal body treatments, three different feet treatments, and a full range of manicure and pedicure services. Access to the relaxation lounge and changing rooms are a part of whatever service you pick, as well!

The Tenaya Stone Spa has been designed with inspiration from the “spirit of nature, indigenous cultures of California and the iconic Craftsman design of the hotel.” As a matter of fact, Tenaya means “to dream” in the indigenous culture of the Yosemite Valley. Disney Cultural Representatives worked with various tribes to bring about the natural order of four throughout the spa, which is reflected in the circle behind the front desk.

This means you’ll find four main colors (white, red, black, yellow), four stones (white magnesite, red pumice, black obsidian, gold pyrite), and four indigenous medicinal plants (sweet grass, sage, cedar, tobacco) to represent earth, air, water, and fire. Plus, there are special signifiers located throughout the Tenaya Spa for the four directional points.

In contrast with the Grand Californian Hotel, in which the design encourages your eyes to look up and out, at Tenaya Stone Spa they want guests to look down and inward as they enter this space of wellness. One way they sought to achieve that is through the wood life rings floor, which serve to ground the guest as they enter the spa.

The Tenaya Stone was formed millions of years ago and is part of the earth, and guests are encouraged to touch the stone to feel the sense of community and connection to the earth. Traditionally, the Tenaya Stone was a way of gathering in ceremony and reflection.

The four quadrant design is also about balancing yourself, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Services offered at the Tenaya Stone Spa are currently only available to Disneyland Resort hotel guests (Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, and Pixar Pier Hotel) at this time, but they will open to the public sometime in the future.

A full service salon will not be available at the grand opening of the spa, but it will be open soon.

The Tenaya Spa is a gorgeous new addition to the Grand Californian! And, it’s definitely worth visiting when you are at the Disneyland Resort. Stay tuned with All Ears for a look at more new and exciting Disney news coming soon!
