Orlando Business Journal is now reporting that additional cancellations may be in the near future for the airline.

According to Orlando Business Journal, “mass cancellations” are anticipated for planned flights in the coming months on top of the cancellations we’ve already seen recently.

The company, which is based out of Florida, is citing labor shortages and poor weather conditions as the main causes for these mass cancellations in the company’s third quarter. At this time, the airline has not specified which routes it may cancel in the coming months.

The article states that “Spirit is Orlando’s second-busiest airline, behind only Southwest Airlines,” implying that many families planning Disney World and Universal Orlando vacations in the coming weeks and months may want to keep a close watch on their flight status.

  1. Bad news for everyone. If Spirit competition cuts back, Southwest and others will only raise prices just because they can. I’m a conservative republican, but frankly, I have grown disgusted by the way big businesses have been treating the consumer. Flight ticket sales should represent a form of legal obligation for the airline to fulfill. Now they just cancel on a whim when profit projections don’t hit the target, leaving the purchaser hanging on a limb wondering what to do with already purchased hotel rooms, attraction tickets, etc. that are useless if you can’t afford the alternative flight to reach your destination.

  2. I’ve flown Spirit 4-5 times a year for past 4 years ACY-MCO with only 1 cancel due to pilot illness – got refund and easily rescheduled. Just flew again 8/18 and 8/23 no problems. All flights full. Most issues seem resolved. I’ve already planned Oct flights. I have no worries. Nice new planes, low fares but high seat costs (too high).

  3. We spent all day today sitting in the St Louis airport only to have our flight to Vegas cancelled. We are getting a refund, but no compensation for the hotel’s cancellation fee, our parking for the day, or the experience airport food, not to mention our time. We received 2 $50 vouchers which we will never use.

  4. I flew on Spirit on 08/10/21, im happy to report that my flight wasn’t delayed or cancelled. We pull out the gate on time and arrived early to my destination
