Eight Movies You’ll Never See on Disney+

There are thousands of titles on Disney+ right now, and even more are coming in the future!

We’ve got original series, new movies, and old favorites all on the list for possible future content.

However, there are some movies that you likely won’t be seeing on the streaming platform in the future, and there are some important reasons why!

Movies That Are Culturally Insensitive

Disney has been taking big steps toward being more culturally sensitive in recent months and years. It’s evident in the renovations on Splash Mountain and Jungle Cruise, and it’s becoming more obvious on Disney+, where they’re starting to warn viewers when content isn’t up to today’s standards.

While Disney has placed warnings on some movies (and removed them from children’s profiles), others that are deemed more offensive won’t be found on the streaming service at all. These include films like Song of the South, The Devil and Max Devlin, and the Donald Duck Military Propaganda.

Movies That Have Deals With Other Studios

Sometimes, it’s less of a problem with the movie itself and more because of the studio that produced it. It’s that way with The Incredible Hulk, which although technically a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, does not appear on Disney+. This is because Marvel Studios produced the film with Universal Studios, which owns the distribution rights.

The Disney film Enchanted also doesn’t appear on the streaming service, also likely for licensing reasons. However, the movie’s sequel will be coming to Disney+ in the future, so maybe we’ll get to see it soon!

As you may recall, the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies had a similar licensing issue with Sony, keeping them from appearing on Disney+ for quite a while. That legal battle was resolved earlier this year, though, and now you can watch those movies, along with the other MCU movies, to your heart’s content!

Movies With Adult Ratings

And besides those two categories, there are the films that aren’t on Disney+ for one very obvious reason: their rating. Disney+ has been marketed as a “family” streaming service, so it would make sense that the company wants to keep the content fairly clean.

This means that movies such as Good Morning Vietnam, Pretty Woman, and Starship Troopers don’t appear in the library. Thankfully, Disney owns Hulu now, so the more “adult” titles are welcome to hang out over there instead.
