Magic Kingdom Hotel Room Views That Are Actually Worth The Extra Cost

Among Disney World’s most popular hotels are the three Monorail resorts: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

One of the perks that comes with staying at these resorts is the stunning views! All three resorts offer expansive views of the resort grounds, Seven Seas Lagoon, and even Magic Kingdom itself!

But which view type is best for your family?

Keep in mind that, in general, the more desirable the view, the higher the cost will be per night, so in weighing the pros and cons, you’ll want to consider how important a top-tier view is for you. As of this writing, there are no nighttime fireworks spectaculars happening at Magic Kingdom, which is one of the huge draws to having a room with a park view.

Let’s review the main room types and what kind of view accompanies each one across all three Monorail resorts!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has two sections of rooms to consider: the main building and the outer buildings. The main building has a smaller number of rooms available. Of the possible rooms, you could have a Courtyard View; a Pool View (views of the pool areas or the marina); a Lagoon View (a non-theme park view of Seven Seas Lagoon); or a Theme Park View, with a view of Magic Kingdom.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort contains a series of buildings constructed to look like longhouses. The views available at the Polynesian begin with Standard View, which could be a view of the Monorail, the gardens, or the parking area. From there, your view moves to Garden View, which would include a view of the garden area or a quiet pool. Pool View rooms come with views of the pool area or marina; Lagoon View rooms come with a non-theme park view of Seven Seas Lagoon; and Theme Park View rooms come with views of Magic Kingdom.

The Polynesian also has a small number of private ‘Bora Bora’ Bungalows, each with lake views.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Finally, there’s Disney’s Contemporary Resort. There are rooms in the Main Tower as well as the Garden Wing of the resort. Standard View rooms come with views of the parking area or an obstructed view of another area on the resort grounds. Garden View rooms come with views of gardens, pools, the marina, or Bay Lake. Lake View rooms come with views of Bay Lake, and Theme Park View rooms come with views of Magic Kingdom and parking areas.

Don’t forget that many of these views are also available at the restaurants located in these resorts! For picture perfect views of Magic Kingdom at the Contemporary, grab a dinner reservation at California Grill! You can also check out views of the theme park from Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian. And if you get just the right table at Polynesian’s ‘Ohana, you can also see Cinderella Castle from that vantage.

This is all to say that you shouldn’t feel like you need to shell out those extra dollars if you want to find a stunning view from your resort. If you choose to stay at a Monorail resort, it may be enough for you and your party to choose a Standard View room and take a trip out to find views of Seven Seas Lagoon or Magic Kingdom.

Ultimately, like any other part of a Disney World vacation, you’ll need to weigh the pros and cons of how important a view is to your stay. A premium view could add hundreds of dollars to your budget per night, especially for those coveted theme parks views. Saving those dollars for a Standard View could wind up in being able to afford extra nights at these very high-end Disney World hotels, where you’ll get the same top-level service no matter what view is outside your window!

  1. Contemporary/Bay Lake theme park view often also incorporates a view of the parking area and bus depot with the park beyond that. Lake view is your best bet and choose an upper floor room if you want more quiet.
