It’s always the free stuff that seems to go under the radar. Disney just brought back a game-changing free perk earlier this month, but nobody is talking about it.

The return of Disney’s Airport Luggage Transfer happened on April 3rd this year. If you are staying at select Disney Resort hotels, you can actually drop your checked baggage off with Luggage Assistance to be delivered directly to your flight.
No more dragging your heavy luggage full of Disney outfits and brand-new souvenirs. Disney will get it on your flight for you, free of charge! The service is currently only available for guests flying with Southwest Airlines, and departing from the Orlando International Airport (MCO).

It’s also only available at a few select hotels right now. That list would include:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort

To take advantage of this perk, check in at whichever Disney World Resort hotel you’re staying at, and then call Luggage Assistance to let them know you want to use this service (you can also visit them in person). A little tip to make the process even quicker and easier, is to leave your inbound Southwest Airlines tags on your bags.

When your trip is over, check into your Southwest flight, drop off your bags, and you’re good to go to the airport! You can drop your bags off at Luggage Assistance in the hotel lobby. Also be aware that you will need to provide a valid form of ID in order to drop off your bags.

You can even call Luggage Assistance from the telephone in your room, and ask for help with your bags.

There is a required drop off time, so you’d want to make sure you know when that is. If you are flying before 1:00 PM, make sure to drop your bags off by 1:00 AM the night before your flight. If you are flying at or after 1:00 PM, make sure to drop your bags off at least four hours before departure or no later than 1:00 PM — whichever of the two comes first.

Luggage Assistance is available for guests to drop off there stuff any time from 7 AM to 1 PM, and then 4 PM to 1 AM every day.

If you stress about where your bags are at after dropping them off at the lobby, you can track your suitcase using the Southwest Airlines App. There is also a Southwest Airlines customer service available! Barring any setbacks, everything should be smooth, and you should have your bags when you land wherever you’re headed.

Again, this perk is only for leaving your Disney World resort that falls in the select few resort hotels. They won’t pick up your bags from the airport when you first arrive. People usually leave Disney with a big haul, so it’s nice not to have to carry all that new Disney merch to the airport!

This service had stopped for the past five years, but it is back once again. It’s a great service that will make going to the Orlando Airport a little smoother and easier — especially when you’re fighting back those tears as you say goodbye to Disney World!
