It’s been a weird year for movies and movie-goers!

When theaters closed down, many films had their premieres delayed or even showed up on streaming platforms instead. Unfortunately, many of the movies that have actually opened in theaters in the past few months did not do as well as they hoped, due to low crowds. However, the movie theater business is pushing forward, as AMC Theatres are opening a large portion of their locations very soon!

On Friday, March 19th (tomorrow), more than 40 AMC locations will be reopening in California. With all these theaters returning to business, that means that 98% of AMC’s theaters in the United States will be open once again.

In addition to that, more reopenings are scheduled for the next week, bringing that total up to 99% by Friday, March 26th. Of those theaters opening tomorrow, 25 are in Los Angeles County and 8 are in San Diego County. As part of their health and safety precautions, AMC has employed mask-wearing, upgraded air filtration, social distancing, and automatic seat-blocking.
