For fans of Black Panther, some exciting news is in the works.

Several new Disney/Marvel shows are on the way: we’ll soon see more WandaVision episodes, the brand-new Behind the Mask, and Deadpool 3. A sequel for Black Panther has also been announced — one that will not recast Chadwick Boseman. And now, fans will be treated to another return to Wakanda.
Disney has just made a five-year overall exclusive television deal with Proximity Media, a multi-media company founded by Ryan Coogler. Coogler co-wrote and directed the first Black Panther and is currently directing its sequel, too.

Bob Iger, Executive Chairman of The Walt Disney Company, said of Coogler, “With Black Panther, Ryan brought a groundbreaking story and iconic characters to life in a real, meaningful and memorable way, creating a watershed cultural moment. We’re thrilled to strengthen our relationship and look forward to telling more great stories with Ryan and his team.”

One of the television series emerging from this partnership will be a drama set in Wakanda, which will release on Disney+. The deal will enable Coogler to develop other series for Disney as well, but those have yet to be announced.
