Yesterday, Universal Orlando released a name and opening date for the newest addition to the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure!
But, despite debuting the name and date on their website yesterday, both have disappeared from the site today! (We’ll have to get back to that confusing part of the VelociCoaster’s progress later).
As we’ve continued to look at progress on the ground and overhead the attraction, @bioreconstruct has made sure to bring us a look at the work on the “Jurassic World VelociCoaster” as Universal Orlando moves forward with its construction for a hopeful Summer 2021 debut.

Previously, the rock formation at the attraction had been hidden away from guests.

The rock formation looks like it could be from the enclosure of one of Jurassic World’s dinosaurs (namely the vicious Indominus Rex), the ruins left behind during Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, or even a look at what’s to come in the next installment of Jurassic World: Dominion.

Construction is still happening on the outdoor sections of the coaster…

Universal has recently been testing its ride vehicles on the actual tracks with overhead restraints as a safety measure. We do wonder if there will be an audio queues playing through the speakers, similar to what we’ve seen on the other Jurassic Park attractions.

But, we all know you’ve been waiting to get down to business. Just the other day, Universal Orlando had sneakily put the name “VelociCoaster” as well as a Summer 2021 opening on its Jurassic Park page. There was a small hint about the ride, which stated that guests will “race through the jungle alongside raptors.”
However, Universal might have underestimated the sleuthing skills of theme park fans, since the information about the VelociCoaster was promptly taken down. We’re not sure if this is due to the fact that it was too early for Universal to release information about the attraction, or if they’re just unsure about when the construction will be completed.
While we thought we had an official Universal announcement, we’ll have to wait again for another one that re-confirms the name, opening date, and other information about the VelociCoaster! And, we’ll make sure to share it ALL with you when we have it!

Universal is awful when it comes to accommodating people of larger size. WDW does a great job as I have NEVER tried a ride that was too small for me. However, there was only one roller coaster at Universal that I could fit in. Not sure if this new coaster will follow the trend, but it is certainly not worth it for me, personally, to spend the money to wander around and watch everyone else ride.
