Following Disney’s Acquisition, 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures Have Officially Dropped “Fox” From Their Titles!

Back in March of 2019, the Walt Disney Company officially acquired 21st Century Fox, which also included the acquisition of production company Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Now, a little less than a year after the merger, Disney has officially announced a few changes to the production studios — specifically, their titles!According to The New York Times, a Disney spokesman has confirmed that both 20th Century Fox Studios and Fox Searchlight Pictures have dropped the word “Fox” from their logos, officially becoming known as 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures going forward.

The upcoming film Downhill, starring Will Ferrell and premiering February 14th, is set to be the first film to use the new Searchlight Pictures name, while Call of the Wild, debuting February 21st, will be the first movie to use the new 20th Century Studios logo.

So far, a new logo for 20th Century Studios has not debuted, so we’re interested to see how that will look! We’ll keep you updated as we learn more on the change.
