After the Disney and Fox merger, the fate of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool was up in the air despite two successful films, but after an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Ryan, we have an update from the man himself.

Ryan Reynolds had the following to say about the status of Deadpool 3: “Yeah, we’re working on it right now with the whole team. We’re over at Marvel now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”

This comes as exciting news for fans because when the Disney/Marvel merger occurred back in March, there was concern that an R-rated character wouldn’t have a place in the strictly PG-13 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, immediately after the merger was finalized, a new image appeared on The Walt Disney Company homepage that prominently featured a picture of Deadpool next to a picture of Mickey from Fantasia, indicating that the two drastically different genres could coexist. And back in February, Disney CEO Bob Iger said on a call with investors that Disney “will continue in [the] business” of making R-rated Deadpool movies.

But who knows what Deadpool will be doing when we see him next. Will he team up with Spidey like in the popular Spider-man/Deadpool series? Perhaps we will follow him during his short run on the Avengers.

Or maybe we’ll see him lead his own team of Mercs for Money (an underrated comic series, check it out) or as dad raising his daughter. That’s right: Deadpool has a daughter in the comics, and Dadpool is the hero we need. 😉

What Deadpool story do you hope we see on the big screen? Let us know in the comments.
