Disneyland’s California Adventure park is getting ready to celebrate Pixar Pier‘s one-year anniversary and welcome a new attraction — Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. To mark the milestone, the first pieces of concept art for the new attraction have been shared by Disney.

The new attraction, opening later this month, is inspired by the Disney and Pixar film Inside Out.
On the attraction, you will board one of eight Memory Movers to take a “sense-ational” spin and help Riley’s Emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear) sort through the memories being collected.

To complement the atmosphere, Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino created five music tracks, one for each of the emotions. Last year Michael collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineering to compose the music for the Incredicoaster.
Our friend Jason checked out the construction progress on a recent visit to the park; you can see all of Jason’s photos here. In Jason’s photos we can see the Memory Movers with giant orbs above them, as well as the memory wall. Looks pretty close to completion!

An exact opening date has not been announced yet. We will keep you posted on the progress and opening of this attraction.

I don’t get why California Adventure seems hellbent on cheesy carnival rides? Sooo much could’ve been done with Inside Out and they chose a balloon ride. This park has never been a big draw so why keep adding dud rides? And now they won’t do anything else with that story because it’s already being represented….with a balloon ride. wah wahhh. I sure hope Epcot picks up the ball and does something more imaginative than this someday. Move over Figment…this is what needs to be in your pavillion!
