New “Tale of the Lion King” to Debut at Disney California Adventure This Summer

Disney California Adventure will welcome a new stage adaptation of The Lion King to the park this summer.

The new adaptation will be a “highly theatrical”, outdoor, musical production called “Tale of the Lion King”.

The cast will be made up of 18 performers — actors, singers, dancers, and drummers — collectively known as Storytellers of the Pride Lands. They will retell the story of The Lion King in a contemporary style through language, song, and dance.

Take a look at this behind-the-scenes video with Creative Director Susana Tubert and the Disney Parks Live Entertainment team as they prepare with the cast for the new show.

“Tale of the Lion King” takes to the Palisades Stage at Disney California Adventure for a limited time this summer, starting June 7.
