Urban Farm garden to debut at 2015 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

With a recent string of chilly nights (and days) in Orlando, it may be difficult to think about being outside, let alone enjoying your back yard. But that's exactly what Walt Disney World gardeners have been doing. Plans for the 2015 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival have been in the works since last year's edition ended. The Flower and Garden Festival begins March 4 - just a little more than two weeks away!

Families: Don’t miss these foods at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival

Last year, after five years in the making, outdoor kitchens debuted at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. The kitchens are similar to the popular kiosks at Epcot's Food and Wine Festival, which serve up appetizer-size portions of dishes from around the world that normally are not available at Epcot. This year, we took a less formal approach and decided to just let the kids eat what appealed to them at each kitchen. As they have gotten older, my children look forward to the food component of the two Epcot festivals more and more. But I think even picky eaters can find foods that appeal to them in this setting, and it's fun to help decide what the family will try.

Audubon presents new Hummingbirds at Home garden at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival

A new garden at this year's Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival invites guests not only to learn about a popular species of birds, but also to participate in a citizen science project sponsored by Audubon. Hummingbirds at Home, which is located behind Mouse Gear in Future World, is a walk-though garden presented by Audubon that features Ruby-Red Penta, Coral Honeysuckle, Firebush, Cigar and Salvia plants.

‘My Yard Goes Disney’ host Brandon Johnson takes guests behind the scenes of backyard makeovers at Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

Brandon Johnson, host of "My Yard Goes Disney," returns to the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival this weekend as one of the featured speakers from HGTV, which sponsors the annual Walt Disney World event. Last year, he gave Home & Garden Television viewers a sneak peek at some of the amazing backyard makeovers that were featured on the second season of "My Yard Goes Disney."
