Review of Columbia Harbour House

On my last trip to Disney we stopped at Columbia Harbor House and tried the Lobster Roll and shrimp dinner. Both were fantastic, so I thought I'd try this restaurant again.

This time my family and I stopped on the evening of 2/1/15. It was very crowded, but the line moved very fast. We all tried the Fish w/Fries. The fish was pretty good. They give you three pieces with a load of crunchy fries. Too much food for me to finish. I'll definitely stop again on my next trip.

Pros:

Good tasting food

Review of 'Ohana Dinner

My family and I visited Ohana for supper on 2/3/15. Our reservations were for 5:30 and they seated us promptly. Our server explained that it was a family style restaurant and he would keep bringing out food until we were stuffed. He wasn't kidding.

The first course was wings in a sticky sweet sauce and potstickers. Both were tasty. We also tried the lettuce wraps which were a nice addition to the meal. Next our server brought out Asian noodles and grilled vegetables. The vegetables were excellent. Chunks of pork on skewers were brought to the table. I'm not a big fan of pork, but I have to say it was delicious. Next came skewers of steak, then shrimp. Our server kept returning to refill our drinks and check to see if we needed more food. Then he told us to save room for dessert. I was going to decline dessert until I saw one carried past my table. It was bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and a caramel/banana sauce. WOW!! Had to try it and it did not disappoint.

This was my favorite meal of my vacation. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Disney World.

Pros:

Great food, great service

Review of Port Orleans French Quarter (Moderate Resort)

Just got back from a quick 3 night/4 day visit. This was our 2nd stay at POFQ and, as with the first visit, the room was wonderful -- beautiful, clean, ready upon arrival (which was 3 p.m.). We were in building 7 on the ground floor. Our room faced a nicely landscaped courtyard and the walk to the main building/food court/bus stop was pleasant. We were able to park nearby in the lot just opposite our building.
Staff at the resort were all helpful and friendly -- every one of them! (Previously, we've run into a few grumpy Disney employees, but this trip everyone seemed not just helpful, but happy to be helpful. The one exception being the parade crowd control staff in the Magic Kingdom. We were a teensy bit afraid of them 🙂
Our room was well cleaned each day and plentiful soap/shampoo refills and towels were left for us. The beds were very comfortable.
We were there over the President's Day holiday weekend, but did not wait more than 10 minutes for a bus our entire stay. We only had to stand on the bus once. A wonderful visit!
One caution: The bathroom floor tile was very slippery in sock feet. My 17 yr. old daughter was the first one to discover this -- we were in the room all of 2 minutes when she kicked off her shoes and hurried to the bathroom -- not running, just rushing. Her feet went out from under her and she fell hard on one hip. She laughed about it and was OK, but we were very cautious about the tile floor after that.
Also be aware: The boats to Downtown Disney will not be running if it is too windy. We were disappointed on our last day to find they were shut down because of wind. We rode the bus instead, which was fine.

Pros:

Another Wonderful Stay

This is way overdue but we stayed in the Lion King Section July 20-26 2014. Our room was in a far corner and it felt like a long walk in torrential downpours. My kids loved the Murphy bed and no one complained of sleeping on either that or the couch pull out. We liked having the small kitchenette and brought our sandwich maker. AOA mailed back when we left it there. I just felt this resort really has the Value resort feel but is priced too high. We probably wouldn't stay here again. Also, they need to install ceiling fans in the bedroom.

Pros:

Very Vibrant and Fun

Cons:

Should not be listed in the Value Category for price

We stayed at Sports January 22 to January 27 2015. We were in Surf's Up which was conveniently located to the main building and we felt it was worth it to pay for the preferred room. The staff was extremely friendly. We were woken up by extremely loud maids yelling back and forth to each other once. Instead of propping the door open she just let it bang shut every time she went to her cart. I spoke to guest services about it as MK had been open really late the day before. That was my only real complaint.

Pros:

Very friendly staff

Cons:

Toothpaste left on curtain between room and bathroom

Review of Disney Quest

Our first experience with DisneyQuest was not the best. While the place was not crowded at all it took awhile to find attractions that were open. Games were breaking down or just not open. I can't imagine the place if it was crowded. I used my 2 free admits but still had to pay for one more. EXPENSIVE! I am not an advocate for spending quality family, Disney time playing Disney themed interactive games. will not visit here again. Not worth the price.

Pros:

buzz lightyear game

Nice bakery with so many tempting pastry options. We were there about an hour after park opening and the line was well out the door. It took about 20 minutes to get our food. The seating is limited, as with so many counter service eateries in the World. We ended up sitting around the corner in the Brown Derby outdoor seating area, since the Derby was not yet open. Recommend the apple cranberry turnover and the cheese danish. Yum! Sandwiches and cupcakes looked pretty much to die for. Next time, we'll try this place for lunch 🙂

Pros:

Delicious Pastries

Cons:

Long Line, No Available Seating

As park dining goes, this was a very pleasant experience. We (family of 4) were seated 5 minutes ahead of our reservation time and our server was friendly and efficient. The food was good. We ordered fried calamari and ceasar salad appetizers, chicken parm and strip steak entrees, and were served the mini-dessert tray. We all enjoyed the meal.
Our 17 yr. old daughter wanted a "fancy" non-alcoholic drink. The drink menu had plenty of alcoholic mixed drinks and only 1 specialty non-alcoholic drink: lemonade in a Cars or Ariel plastic cup. Nothing quite right for our daughter, so we asked our server to bring her a Shirley Temple with a glow-cube in it. We were very pleased to have this request happily fulfilled. The drink looked beautiful and tickled our daughter. The cube was $3.99 extra and is re-usable. We brought it home 🙂
We were on the Fanstasmic package. 4 people, 1 glow cube, 20% tip for excellent service = just under $190... and Fantasmic was rained out 🙁
Giving this experience a 10 for what it is - a park dining experience. The same meal outside of Disney would have been good, but nothing to write home about, and the price would have been about half what we paid. However, ...having a table in a themed restaurant on an extremely crowded day in Hollywood Studios... eating some satisfying food... getting off our feet for an hour while it poured rain outside = priceless in the park 🙂

Pros:

Very Pleasant Dining Experience

Cons:

Pricey

OK -- We knew going in that the lines would be long and there would probably be no available seating... and we were absolutely right. The line was LONG and SLOW. When we finally got to the register, the grumpy employee looked at us and said "I'm done!" and turned around and left. Hmmmm. The employee at the next register kindly helped us.
We had read online that they served batter dipped fried Snickers bars here. It was the reason my daughter picked this counter service restaurant. There is a BIG sign over the register enticing people to try this item. When you order it, however, you will be told that it has been discontinued 🙁
Seating is, of course, limited, sigh. On the evening we were there, there were a few large family groups that put a couple of people in line while other family members grabbed up tables as soon as people were finished and pushed them together for their party. We watched this happening and by the time we were through the line, almost all the outdoor seating was "taken" by a few families. We stood outside in the chilly weather and gobbled our fish, which was good, as quickly as possible. Not the experience we were hoping for on our first night in the World, but there were magical moments ahead.

Pros:

Good Fried Fish

Cons:

Not nearly enough seating, Long Lines

Love Casey's. Corn dog nuggets and skinny fries are yummy. Typical negative aspects: long lines, not nearly enough seating (though I understand they are working on an expanded seating area). We sat on the curb outside to eat.

Pros:

Corn Dog Nuggets!
