I think the lizards were sneaking into the arcade to play Frogger!! It was such an exciting experience walking around POFQ and seeing all the lizards dashing around! They definitely rule the roost. Then the black snake on our path on departure was classic. We are military and my husband (he's still active 26+ years) and I were together (in the army) in the Mojave Desert 23 years ago on a training mission when he came upon a rattle snake and stopped dead in his tracks...same here....we had to re-route...Now, for my review...WE LOVE POFQ!! We are already planning our next vacation with our daughter and her twins. Our room was not large, but very comfortable. Bed was awesome, love the new wood flooring, Large tv, and the best thing, we had a bit of pixie dust sprinkled...we had a garden room booked, and we got the end room, building 1, room 1233, two windows, so we got a garden view AND a river view! Cast Members were fabulous, Nate the Bartender was awesome, he always remembered us (well we were there 11 days), Myong, I believe her name is, we met her in the Laundry room, she was so fun to talk to and helped keep the very clean, well maintained facility tip top. Please forward those two a Disney thank you for wonderful service. I also want to praise the bartenders at the pool bar, unfortunately I do not recall their names, but, nonetheless, they were great! Fabulous drinks! MouseKeeping was great, always a fresh room to come back to. The ladies in the gift shop were always wonderful and pleasant. The Door Man opened the front doors with a swoop of his hand. LOL
We had a fantastic stay, cannot wait to bring our grand-daughters back with us and play in the kiddy water park. Our only negative was the food in the food court. The Beignets were very good, however the other fare was not so good. We are from California, so maybe southern food isn't for us, but the eggs were the liquid ones, biscuits were too dense and the gravy, tasteless. Bacon and sausage were ok. Whole wheat Croissants are kind of an oxymoron. Too tough. No HARD BOILED EGGS!?!? Strange. Overall, we had a wonderful 11 days at POFQ and as I said, cannot wait to return!

Pros:

smaller resort

Cons:

food

We stayed here on 11-29-12, our first villa experience. While over all it was ok, I don't know how much I would want to stay here again. Our sliding doors in our villa didn't work, the sofa was hard, the resort itself is huge. Not bad, very friendly castmembers, but just missing that extra touch.

Pros:

Clean room, friendly staff

Cons:

huge resort

Review of Walt Disney World's Magical Express

I have used Disney's Magical express 5 times in the last 4 years.

I highly recommend this free service. Not having to worry about your bags is fantastic, and are whisked away to your resort hotel. Depending on your time of arrival, you may have a wait in line, so I suggest going to the bathroom before you enter the line.

I love not having to cart bags around. They are deposited directly into your hotel room about 3 hrs after your arrival.

If I find I might want something sooner then my luggage will arrive, I take a small carry on, and generally pack a pair of shorts, bathing suit ec. When coming in the winter, and it's warm in Florida, I like to put shorts on right away!

The only downside to Magical Express is the fact that they require you to go be picked up at your hotel 3 hrs before your flight. I realize that Disney wants to ensure that no one misses their flight but 3 hrs is a bit much.

This last trip we had a 9pm flight, and had to leave for the airport at 6p. When we arrived at the airport we found our flight was delayed 3 hrs so we spent 6 hrs at the airport uncomfortably, when we could have stayed at WDW longer.

Pros:

Nice Coach ride to WDW, hassle free without bags.

Cons:

Going to the Airport 3 hrs before flight home

We stayed at Pop for 7 days this December/January. This was our first trip to Disney World. The rooms were clean and sufficient, nothing too fancy but it did feel like Disney. We had a room with a view of the pool which was really nice. Mousekeeping was excellent and my DD (5) really enjoyed coming back to see what had been done with all her toys. Our main complaint was the food court. We were there at a very busy time and so the food court was usually full. I found that the staff were not friendly. We were on a ddp and were not sure of our selections with the plan and when asking the staff they were not very helpful. Overall our stay at Pop was nice and I would stay again hoping that at a quieter time the staff in the food court might not be so overwhelmed and unfriendly.

Pros:

Bus service, mousekeeping

Cons:

Food court

We attended the F&W Festival on 10/22 and 10/25 and found the food at the various countries to be very good. The lines were very short, but there was a lack of seating in many places.

We also found the F&W Center to be a very long way from everything and unless you were attending a demonstration there wasn't a whole lot to see of do there.

Pros:

Great Food, short lines

Cons:

F&W Center a long walk from everything, lack of seating in the World Showcase.

We stayed here on 12-8-12 for two nights following our cruise. I have always wanted to stay here, so I was really looking forward to it. What a major let down. We had to wait forever for our villa to be ready, it was missing several of the kitchen items, I couldn't tell you when it was cleaned last....the dust had layers. Socks from the previous party were on the floor, furniture was all scratched up. This needed a major over hall, since we only had two nights we made do, I told the front desk when we checked out and the girl didn't even seem to care. Can't say we would ever stay here again.

Pros:

boat transportation

Cons:

dirty room, rude staff

Review of Hollywood and Vine Dinner

Had dinner here on 12/27 before enjoying the Osborne Spectacle of Lights. I had tried to get reservation here the day before (fully knowing I wouldn't be able to) so we decided to walk up and try our luck. Around 5:30pm we walked up to the check-in desk and were told it would be a 25 minute wait which we didn't think was too bad. Turned out it was a 5 minute wait. The staff was talkative and very friendly. Our waitress was attentive. The food selection was our favorite out of the three total buffets we had during the week (including Boma). Maybe we just got lucky but I would definitely go here again.

Pros:

no wait, food selection (variety), waitstaff

Cons:

Review of Starring Rolls

This is one of the better CS options in DHS.

You get a very nice meal, and a fantastic dessert to boot. A welcomed break from the burger/fries joints, as they provided two sandwich options - a ham and cheese or turkey pesto - both on very soft focaccia bread, and healthy portion of tender, flavorful meat. We were so full from the sandwiches, that we could barely eat the wonderful desserts (some of which rival Epcot).

The desserts are amazing (and huge), and worth a snack credit if you decide to eat elsewhere for lunch or dinner.

Would definitely eat here again and recommend to all. Just be aware that it is very small inside, and the DDP is a little confusing here.

If they'd post what you can get, then the lines would move a lot faster. The employees seemed to spend more time answering DDP questions than processing orders.

Pros:

Value

Cons:

Small and crowded

If you're on the DDP and looking for the best bang for your buck, then this is one of the best counter service options in all of WDW, and by far the best option at AK.

We came here 5 years ago, and my dad (75) must have demanded that we return here about a dozen times during our December trip planning.

Needless to say, we were again thrilled with the quantity and quality of the FTB. In fact, if you're on the quick service DDP, unless you want to eat here twice in one day, you'll do well to eat a late lunch here, and then have another CS dinner at one of the resorts or another park.

There's just not much else at AK that's worthy of a CS credit.

Pros:

Quantiy/Quality

Cons:

Stayed 12/22/12-12/29/12. This was our second time stay at POR, first time was 5 years ago at Christmas. We had reserved a garden view room and were placed in Acadian House. The room was much nicer than our previous room in Alligator Bayou. Our room was close to one of the quiet pools, Old Man Island and the North Bus Stop. The staff was polite and helpful from check-in to check-out. We enjoyed the pools, the restaurants, the arcade and the boat transportation to and from Downtown Disney. The only minor complaint we had was the some what inconsistency in housekeeping. While our room was cleaned every day the coffee and cups were not restocked until we specifically requested it (and left a second tip). Bus transportation was a bit spotty during the week but I think is a bigger Disney issue and not something to blame on the resort. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros:

Room, staff, grounds

Cons:

inconsistent housekeeping
