Review of Ft. Wilderness Cabins (Moderate Resort)

My family of 6 stayed here in November. My kids really like it. They prefer it to All-Star Music and after seeing pics of very tacky decor at the new Art of Animation they all wanted to return here. They love the wilderness theme. It was our 4th trip to the cabins. We like the home away from home feel and no need to worry about my loud boys bothering others. My adult daughter went on a trail ride, we walked to the small cabin pool, and ate at Trails End one night. It really is a whole other vacation on top of the parks. Mousekeeping was great and the manager was super helpful in fixing a problem we had with the dining plan at Akershus.
Pros:
roomy, full kitchen, living room/dining room areaCons:

We stayed here the week before Christmas week. The Concierge staff was wonderful and helped us with a couple of last minute changes. Rooms are nice. The upgrade of the rooms has started, so beware. Was a little disappointed in the variety, or lack of, food offerings. It was the same food every day of our nine day stay. A pastry filling flavor would change, but most everything else stayed the same. They are trying something new by asking what time you would like Mousekeeping to clean your room. Offering 2-hour intervals. Thought that was nice.
Pros:
Concierge Staff, Mousekeeping, close to Epcot & Hollywood StudiosCons:

My family of 6 ate here in November. DD got the Duck and sorbet which she loved. The rest of us all ordered pre-fix menu The younger members got the mac and cheese and liked it. The rest got the short ribs which were cooked to perfection and so good! Desserts were Creme brulee, Strawberry cake with cream, and chocolate mousse. We loved them all. My only quibble was the lobster bisque which only had one piece of lobster in it. Our server, Sebastian, was wonderful! He surprised the youngest with a group of his fellow servers coming to the table with his dessert and singing Happy Birthday in French! My son thought it was the coolest thing!
Pros:
wonderful service, pretty setting and great foodCons:

This use to be our favorite restaurant and we would always go 2-3 times during our stay. I was anxious to see the new remodel that was done since the last time we were there. Total disappointment! The remodel added a huge amount of tables (so more people can enjoy the experience, more money spent). If you are a couple looking for a romantic setting, forget it. You sit in a long row of "couple tables" that are only a couple of feet apart from each other. Barely enough room to walk between the two tables. The room is very noisy with the amount of people they have added to the room. Menu has changed again and was somewhat disappointed in the selection offered. Waiter we had was gone for long periods of time. My water glass (only drink I had) was empty most of the time. Will probably not go back again.

This was one of our favorite places to eat at every trip we take, but no longer. Arrived at opening time for dinner and had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Server was terrible. Wanted to push the higher priced menu options and said the lower priced options were not any good. Party of 7 on Deluxe dinning plan, so tip was automatic for her. Pushed bottled water too. 3 in our party ordered the main lobster, which we found out later, was in molting season. They came out runny and small. Had to send one that was uneatable back, to which came the explanation that it was molting season and there was no way to tell. Next one came out was dirty and not split, sent it back to clean up. King crab legs were good, but not split at all. 9 yr old had a hard time getting it out. Steak came out on the cool side and had to be sent back. Had a much better dinner at Narcoosees and they had no problem serving quality lobster and crab that were split so you could get the meat out! Server was never around after our first complaint. Had trouble getting water glasses filled and food sent back to be fixed. Have crossed this one off my list.

I normally avoid character meals because of the noise and chaos. It was WAY calmer than I thought it would be. Alice and Mary Poppins were very sweet and talked to our all adult group for a few minutes and took pictures with us. Pooh and Tigger were adorable and sweet- even danced with us at the table. The mad hatter though was the funniest! We were nervous because he was loud- but he was a blast and made the experience fun- poking fun at our group and made us all laugh.
The food was amazing- especially the omlette station. I love that they have the mickey waffles and lots of classic breakfast offerings as well.
Pros:

I ate here for lunch with friends on 1/11 during our day at Animal Kingdom. We chose it because we were tired of normal park food and wanted something different. I was skeptical because I am very fussy. I ordered the teriyaki bowl and it was delish!! My friends loved their wrap and salad as well. I would eat here again for sure.

I was very excited to score a fast pass plus for Be Our Guest and anxiously awaited this lunch. The food was good- but not worth the trouble it took to eat here. We had to wait in line to check in, wait in line to be asked if we pre-ordered, wait in line to order, and then wander around the restaurant trying to find a table. When we finally did, we waited well over 15 minutes for it to be cleaned.
Getting to eat in Beast's castle was cool, and the Masters cupcake was amazing- I'm not sure I would do it again.

This was our favorite meal of the entire trip. I had the coffee crusted pork chop and it was amazing. This will be a stop on my next trip and I will order it again. The atmposhere was lovely- very quiet and peaceful. Our server was great as well. We had no complaints at all here!

We visited here on Dec 14...a MVMCP night. We mis-judged the time that some of the other restaurants would close for the party and start setting up for cookies and hot chocolate, so our choices were limited for dining. We were referred to Pecos Bill's by a cast member who told us of the places open during the party for food. I understand how busy that night of the party was (we heard it was sold out) but even on a slower day I can't imagine the service running any smoother or it being any cleaner. They were very disorganized at the ordering stations. The salad bar area was a mess. The tables were sticky. The food was cold and really not appetizing by the time it finally was ready. This was the first time we have ever eaten here and unfortunately it was the last. I do not recommend.
