My family of 6 stayed here December 11th through 16th last year. We rented points. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa. It was recently refurbished and we loved the rustic wilderness theme. Now that our kids are becoming young adults this was a great place that we could spread out and feel relaxed. We did get woken up a couple of mornings from construction around 8:30 am. But for the most part we were not disturbed by the construction going on. The walk from the elevators was pretty long. The villa lobby was very cozy and a great place to hang out and play games or sit by the fire. The Wilderness Lodge itself is one of our favorite resorts and getting to see it all decorated for Christmas was wonderful! Overall one of the best disney vacations ever! Can't wait to go back!

My family of 6 ate lunch here on December 15th. This was our first visit here. It is expensive! We did not use the dining plan. The service was excellent. Everybody was friendly. We were seated with an older couple that were celebrating their 40th anniversary. We were celebrating DD 21st bday. We had a great time! DD is on a dairy free diet and so a chef came out and took her around the buffet to show her what she can have. Also extra dairy free chocolate desserts were brought to her at the table. The cheese soup was a big hit with my DH and DSons. I found it to be too salty though. The meatballs and salmon were wonderful! I enjoyed the salads, the beets, potatoes au'gratin, pretzel bread and the white sausages. The desserts were wonderful and since they are small you can try a variety of different ones. The show was also fun and we're all happy to have finally tried it.
Pros:
Big selection and friendly staff with a good floor show to top it offCons:

We ate breakfast here on December 12th. My party of six enjoyed the meal. We were celebrating DD 21st bday and the server had the whole place sing to her. She loved it! They no longer have a chef come out and speak to you regarding a food allergy. Instead they had an allergy alert menu. Not the same personal touch as times in the past but still helpful. The coffee was great! The skillet was plentiful and great for a bunch of hungry men. My DD had dairy free pancakes. They were good but not great.
Pros:
the food was good and the server was friendly and made the trip specialCons:

My party of six had breakfast here on December 14th. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Disney World! And it did not disappoint! The chef took DD 21 around the buffet to let her know what she can eat that is dairy free. They also brought her some chocolate babycakes that are wonderful! I really enjoy the grilled Asparagus, tomatoes, Bobtie and other African dishes. For the less adventurous eaters there is roasted meats, an omelette station, and plenty of fruit and baked items for a more typical American breakfast. The juice here is great! The staff is the friendliest here and at the Lodge itself as well!
Pros:

My family of five absolutely loved the food here. It was so much better than the hamburgers and pork sandwiches they used to serve! The food was hot and flavorful and the toppings bar allows you to really make it your own. We all had the fajita platter, which is great because you can try both the Barbacoa and the chicken at the same time. It was so filling, I couldn't eat all of mine. The only reason I gave this restaurant a 9 instead of a 10 was because of the desserts. I usually love red velvet cake, but I am not really a fan of the little cake cups. It was ok, but not great. The churros would have been fantastic with the dipping sauce, but unfortunately they were not very fresh. This restaurant is already on our next vacation to-do list. ðŸ˜
Pros:
Great food! Much better than average counter service.Cons:
The only thing slightly negative was the desserts.Reviewed by tacatcon Review Date: 02/18/2017

This is my second time staying at a Disney Resort in the last 6 months. I didn't have the best experience the first time so I was very worried but had read great reviews of POR. Once we arrived, my room was already ready, but they had me in the Alligator Bayou section though I had requested the Magnolia Terrace section. I knew there were no guarantees but I went in and asked and no problem, they changed me to building 80. As we walked to our building, I saw the cool old mill wheel and the river and a great main pool. Then we got to the Magnolia Terrace buildings and I was so happy. The room itself isn't super exciting, but cute and clean and plenty of room for two. We had a garden view but honestly never spent any time looking. We were in room 8028, facing towards the fountain. This building is a great location because you are right near the bridge that gets you over to the lobby, main pool, restaurants and main bus stop (South). So the walk to get better coffee or breakfast in the a.m. was very pleasant. There was a quiet pool between our building and the one next door that we used on two occasions. Very clean and quiet. Only weird thing is there were no towels there so we had to go grab some at the main pool. Great drinks at the pool bar by the way.
Food court is pretty much always busy. We ate there a few times. Really liked the fried green tomatoes and fried okra. My daughter liked the swamp burger and the pulled pork sandwich. Nothing we had was bad. In the restaurant we had a great meal of jambalaya and some kind of chicken.
Everyone at this resort seemed very fr
iendly and helpful. They made sure to greet us as we walked by which I really appreciate.
Getting buses back from the parks was only an issue once and that was only because we left when the park closed. Leaving the resort, if you are closer to one of the satellite bus stops (north, east, west) it is quicker and a better bet to go there than walk over to south. Half the time after waiting and waiting the buses would pull up to South and be completely or near full. So it was a long wait a few times.
Will definitely stay here again!
Pros:
Beautiful grounds, great pool, great food court and restaurant, friendly staffCons:
distance from room to food court for some, but I enjoyed the short walk. Buses can take a while especially for the park with EMH.Review of Disney Dining Plan

I gave the plan a 5 because there were good things and there were bad things about the plan. The good thing was convience only activating the key pad and putting in your pass code. The bad thing was way to much food and the time to use the table service part of the plan. I don't care to spend this much on park tickets to sit at a table. There was 2 of us. We paid $800 for the plan for 6 days. We did eat more than we paid for the plan. I wrote on each receipt the cost of the meal. With the plan you are almost forced to eat to get what you paid for the plan. I would not recommend the plan. Our son, daughter in law and 3 kids took the plan. Between all of us there was a lot of food wasted. We ate many desserts that we would not normally order. Yes food is very expensive in WDW, but if I were not on the plan I think I would have only spent half as much.

Needed a quick, inexpensive place to grab a bite because of a late dinner reservation later that day. The restaurant was very clean and the order taking process very efficient. I had the angus bacon cheeseburger with fries and enjoyed it immensely. My wife tried the Asian salad and liked the dressing. My DD and DS had the cheeseburgers and fries. For desert we all had a chocolate mousse and there were no complaints. Everything about the food was good and tasted so freshly made. My DS said his cheeseburger was one of the best he has ever had. With the beverages, the bill came to only $74.00. Pretty good for four people eating in a Disney park. We were all happy we stopped here.

I stayed here with my fiancé for 9 nights, 10 days. 7 day park hopper tickets. I requested a room in Magnolia Bend or near there because of how gorgeous and magnificent the mansion buildings were overlooking the River. Check in was a breeze and our bags were already being sent to our room via Magical Express. The room was perfect. Beds super comfy, outstanding products for shower, always tip the Mousekeeper! Restaurant and shops at hotel are still one of my favorites where you don't feel like your going too far to eat and drink. River roost Lounge is great, and Bob on the Piano is unreal. I totally recommend this moderate resort to anyone looking for a couples resort, nice grounds and amenities and the best bang for your buck!!!
