Review of Polynesian Village Resort (Deluxe Resort)

We just got back from our 4th stay at the Polynesian. We just love it there.

We spent more time at the resort this trip than we had before and it was great. Our room was on the 3rd floor or Rarotonga and the Oasis pool is just outside that building. We spent a ton of time at the pool/hot tub. The new zero entry pool is fantastic. We got several drinks from the bar and my husband had a burger from the Grill one afternoon that he said was great.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. We were the last room on the hall and so I think we were the last stop for housekeeping. My only complaint was that it was near 3 pm each day before our room was made up.

The Lobby, food court and shops were all great and all the Cast Members working in these places were friendly and helpful.

Transportation was excellent. We took the boat back and forth between Magic Kingdom. For Epcot we walked to the TTC and took the monorail. We took the bus to Disney Springs and the monorail from the Polynesian platform to the Contemporary for Breakfast one morning. We never waited more than 10 minutes for any transportation.

It was a fantastic stay and we have already booked to go back next year.

Pros:

We love the Polynesian

Review of Victoria and Albert's

Let's get this out of the way to start-- this was the third time we've visited Victoria and Albert's (out of about a dozen Disney World vacations), and they've been the three most expensive meals of our lives. They've also been the three best and most memorable. We had to swallow hard in deciding to go this time, but we're quite glad we did. The food was as exquisite as it was innovative, the wine pairings were unbelievably perfect, and the service was the very definition of impeccable. The atmosphere was quiet and refined. (Caveat: we do not have children, and V and A's is decidedly not the place for them.) Everything was absolutely first-rate from start to finish.

What I've finally decided is that if you value truly fine food and drink, and you can manage the tab without crippling yourself financially, then you should absolutely dine at Victoria and Albert's at least once in your life.

Pros:

Incredible food, wine and service

Cons:

Yes, it's really expensive

Review of Biergarten - Lunch/Dinner

This was our 3rd time eating here. It is one of my husbands absolute favorite places to eat at Disney.

Our ADR was for 7:30. We checked in, got a buzzer and sat down on a bench - we were then paged immediately. We were seated with a family of 5, a single guy whose wife wasn't feeling well and went back to the hotel and then DH and I. Everyone we sat with were friendly and we chatted with them.

Our server was very efficient with drinks and clearing plates.

The food was good. We had been snacking at the Food and Wine Festival and I wasn't super hungry. The macaroni and cheese was the best thing on the buffet. I ate a huge serving of that. The meats were all good.

I was disappointed that the soup was tomato and not cheese like the last time we were there.

Pros:

Fun atmosphere

We ate here last month. Hubby had the meatloaf and I did the fried chicken. Both were really good. Unlike last year our server was not over the top when it came to the antics but she was prompt and attentive which is all we cared. Most of the entrees are on the heavy side. Would be nice if they had a sandwich or 2 , the only light entree is the caesar salad with salmon or chicken.
Next time we will do what we did 2 years ago and share the Mom's Favorites & the salad.

Pros:

Fried chicken and meatloaf

Cons:

Not a lot of lighter / smaller options

Got back a month ago from a 6 night stay. We were there during the foodcourt reno. Ate a few breakfasts there with no issues but we were the in before 8:00am. Bus service overall was very good. During rush hour there was a CM calling for extra buses when needed and letting people know what was coming next.
Room was in building 7 which was great as we go up to POR a few times a trip. The seperate boat to DS after 4:30 has been a huge improvement (been going since 1998 and this was visit # 10) Hopefully once they are done with the foodcourt, they will consider remodeling the lounge. Staff is fine but it isn't comfortable to hang out in. Fortunately the weather was good and the pool bars at POR and POFQ were open till 9:00 or more.Otherwise we'd have gone up to POR.
We had no issue with housekeeping but there were only 2 of us so we only needed one refill of shampoo, etc.

Pros:

Location , bus service, staff at pool bar

Cons:

Need to remodel Scat Cat's and add a TS restaurant

We had lunch here last month. Since it in a resort it still has a lunch menu unlike many of the park restaurants. Since my husband and I are no longer all day park people taking the time when at Epcot to come here is no big deal. Especially since Chef's de France and Le Cellier have gone to an all day dinner menu.
We ordered the lobster roll which was very good. Had a good amount of lobster with minimal mayo and filler. We also ordered the soup and sandwich combo. The last few visits one of the options was shrimp salad on a croissant which we love.. Again it was mostly shrimp (medium to large size not the mini) with very little dressing.
Two great sandwiches to split. Our Server was very good even though he had an other table that needed "attention" as they thought they were the only group in the room.

Pros:

Good lunch option

This has been our go to restaurant for lunch when at DHS. We enjoyed the casear salad and split a flatbread pizza.
We asked the salad first but either the waiter or kitchen messed up. This was the 1st time in 7 visits that has happened so no big deal.
Service was fine and the food was very good. Like a lot of park restaurants they have gone to a lunch/dinner menu so there are no sandwich /lunch entree options here unless you do salad or flatbreads

Pros:

Flatbread pizzas

Cons:

Another all day menu

Stayed there from 11/8 -11/13. Beautiful grounds, stayed in Trinidad South. Very far from everything. 10 minute walk to food court. Quiet pool and beach was beautiful.
Busses were ok but if you need to get back to main house you have to wait for an internal bus or take one to Barbados and walk. There are 6 bus stops throughout the resort so sometimes you had to wait for another bus to come.
Too big for my taste.

Pros:

Beautiful scenery

Cons:

Too spread out poor communication

Review of Wilderness Lodge (Deluxe Resort)

The Wilderness Lodge has been on my bucket list for a long time, so perhaps my lower rating should be taken with a grain of salt. I'd built up expectations for years. The resort is beautiful. The theme is great, and you really feel like you're in the Pacific Northwest from the moment you enter the lobby. We especially loved the pool, and the splash area was perfect for my 3 yr old DD and 8 month old DS.
Unfortunately, I was really surprised by how thin the walls were, especially for a deluxe resort. Our neighbors were night owls, and they woke us up every night when they returned from the parks and the cranky kids argued about going to bed. One morning, I had to call down to the desk because we could hear their alarm going off for about 15 minutes.
I loved having the option of taking a boat to the Magic Kingdom, which we did several times. They also had boats to Ft. Wilderness and The Contemporary. We took advantage of this one night to eat dinner at Chef Mickey's.
If we decide to stay at a Deluxe Resort again, I will probably save a little longer and try to choose something on the monorail loop.

Pros:

Location, Transportation, Beautiful

Cons:

Construction, Thin walls
