My sister and I lunched here in April. I enjoyed my usual-Colony Chicken Salad. My sister, who is a pot roast fan-enjoyed her lunch but asked the waitress why they no longer served carrots in the pot roast. The waitress said someone determined they weren't a favorite so they cut them out. So the pot roast was just meat, some onion, potatoes and gravy. Still tasty but just not the same. The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake was delicious-a first for my sister who ate a little of mine. She wanted Dole Whip which is where we headed when we left the restaurant.

Pros:

best Magic Kingdom lunch

We visited PVH on a Sunday afternoon so you can imagine how busy the park was as I was craving a flatbread pizza. While it took time to get to the ordering station and then more time to get our food, it was served as quickly as possible given the busy time of day. The flatbreads we received were fresh and our order was correct. In fact, the staff made a last-minute substitution in our kids’ meal with a very cheerful and courteous manner. We scored a table at the windows overlooking It’s a Small World—it was a great respite from the crowded day.

Pros:

large dining area

Cons:

very crowded

Review of Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar

I had lunch here in April anticipating pecorino wine and the small plate of pomodoro cavatappi. I got my wine (up $2 since my fall visit) but the menu had changed a lot. My pomodoro was gone and the only small plate pasta they were offering that day was a pasta with lamb ragu. I ordered it-it was good-put not pomodoro. I was given a full size dessert menu-not the usual mini desserts. The lemoncello panna cotta was good as was the cappuccino. Since I got home, I see the menu at Tutto Gusto has changed to basically the Tutto Italia menu. Not the nice little lunches anymore. Hope they keep the pecorino wine on the menu.

Pros:

pecorino wine and good food

Cons:

small plates disappearing-new menu

Review of Restaurant Marrakesh - Lunch/Dinner

My niece had never dined at Restaurant Marrakesh so this was a treat for both of us. It had been a long time since I ate here. We started with the goat cheese appetizer and cocktails. I let my niece order two entrees that we would share and she picked the chicken couscous and the fish tangine.
The couscous was good but the fish was fantastic.
We both said we'd order it again. We ended our meal with hot Moroccan mint tea which was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Our waiter, the music and belly dancer and the restaurant itself added to our lovely evening. A couscous doggie bag followed my niece home!

Pros:

I forgot how good this place is!

Review of Be Our Guest Dinner

BoG has always been our favorite place for lunch but this is the first time we tried it for dinner. Although we started trying for reservations well after the 6-month window opened, our persistence paid off and we got a 5:45 reservation on a Sunday evening. We checked in early and were seated very close to our reservation time, if not a little before. We were shown to a table at the back of the ballroom, close to the windows where you see the snow fall. The room was decorated for Christmas, with little candelabras accenting the wreathes; the tree was adorned with ornaments representing the creatures in the castle. My daughter had the Master’s Grilled Strip Steak, which had been recommended by our server. It was an amazing meal, seasoned and cooked perfectly and the elegantly simple pomme frites were tasty. Such simple fare was absolutely magical. Oh, and my potato leek soup was delicious—quite filling for smaller appetites. When we were talking about eating dinner here we decided that we would go all-out and order every dessert we wanted and that’s just what we did. Grey Stuff (served atop a chocolate cupcake that evening), the Eclair a la Orange, and Lemon Meringue cupcake are what ended up on our table. Our meal finished up with an audience with the Master himself, who danced my princess around for a few turns and then gave me a great big “Beast” hug. Everything was dreamy. In fact, we still dream about it and can’t wait to go back.

Pros:

food, ambiance, The Beast

Review of Captain Cook's

We normally eat breakfast here and always enjoy it, as we did this time around. The food is cooked fresh (a step up from the value resorts), served in a reasonable amount of time, and tasty. We normally sit way in the back by the water fall—this area is usually not very busy and a little quieter, save for the falling water. I found it interesting, however, that although we ordered our food to “eat in” it was still served in boxes on the tray, which kind of cheapened the feel of our experience at this deluxe resort. I don’t expect fine china but even the value resort we visited served our entrees on plates.

Pros:

fresh food

Cons:

food is served in boxes

Review of Be Our Guest -Counter Service Lunch

This is the first time we have had lunch at Be Our Guest (Dec 5, 2016); we previously had dinner there about a year ago and sadly both were awful. We have no idea why people continue to rave about the place. I wish we could see what they see, but we just don't. We won't be back.

Lunch is a complete nightmare when it comes to ordering. You wait in a very, very long line that eventually will split into two inside. One line the guests order on their own, the other line someone takes their order. This is no rhyme or reason to this that we can think of. Either which way, it seems completely inefficient and we have no idea what determines which line you get.

Once we grabbed our drinks, silverware, etc, we went and found a seat. The first server that walked by told us to put our receipt at the edge of the table. The next one that walked by, moved it to where they wanted it. Yet another one walked by and asked where the receipt was so they could get our food. Someone completely different walked by and said they were going to go get it and checked the receipt. I kid you not, we had EIGHT different people walk by, check the receipt, and then NOT bring us our food. It would have been comical, had it actually been funny but really it was just annoying. No server seemed to have a grasp how to find our order. It is just a wildly inefficient process. They need something on the tables to identify who we are (such as a number like most places use or because the place is so big, some sort of device that will actually transmit a signal to a main hub where it can be viewed).

We finally got our food like 20 mins later, and it was just ok. At least it wasn't FROZEN like the dinner I had the year previous. I had the layered ratatouille then and I am not kidding when I say it was icy in the middle. When I asked our server to send it back because it was cold, he said "oh, well nothing here is prepared fresh, it's all frozen like a tv dinner so they must not have heated it all the way. i will tell them to make sure it's done". And that's what we are paying good money for? I don't expect it to be a California Grill or even an 'Ohana, but come on, frozen is unacceptable.

Please, please save your $. I know it's convenient to eat in the park, but really, hop on the monorail, and take yourself to 'Ohana instead. We did breakfast there for the first time and loved it as much as dinner (I'm vegetarian and asked for some egg whites and veggies which they were happy to do and it was excellent). They went through a phase for awhile when the food was very blah, but I'm happy to report it's excellent again and i could eat there every night!! Just don't make me eat at Be Our Guest again. Even our first-time to WDW friends said it was awful, and I felt bad because I was hoping it would be different and they would love it. Not so much 🙁
