My dad and I planned to spend the first week of May here, in one of the royal rooms. The instant we got there, it was like being back home. The security guard was incredibly funny and nice, welcoming us home.

We did the online check in and boy, did it make a difference! This was the first time we used online check in and we were definitely impressed with how fast it is. We were in and out within five minutes, where our usual check in takes 15-20 min. Our room was very easy to find in Parterre Place, which is remarkable, considering how big Dixie Landings is. When we got to the room, we were not prepared for the awesomeness of the royal room.

Themed to a tee, the royal room is Disney at it's finest. There is a letter from Princess Tiana welcoming you to the resort, along with pictures of the princesses taking silly pictures with each other. There are cameo pictures of the princes (A very nice touch, as they are always almost neglected), various touches from the movies, such as Sultan the dog and the magic lamp. For the wallpaper trim at the top, you can see Chip, Gus-Gus and Jacque, along with hidden mickeys. The bedspread features the different crowns of the princesses and the head of the bed is amazing. You push a button and you have your very own firework show!

The shower curtain was one of my favourite things about the room. It was Little Mermaid themed with snarfblats, dinglehoppers, sand dollars and starfish. The faucet was a magic lamp which I thought was a clever touch.

We had room 9736, which faced the Sassagoula. Everything was within a two minute walk, which was incredibly unexpected but very, very nice. I think it was a shorter walk to everything, than at the Contemporary where everything is laid out in full view. It was very nice walking down to Fulton’s or the food court and be back within fifteen-twenty minutes.

For the price we paid, which wasn’t that much compared to the Contemporary, we got an experience that was priceless. This trip ranks as one of my all time three favourite trips to Disney World, including two fantastic trips to the Contemporary. Dixie Landings lived up to my expectations and beyond.

Pros:

Price, Royal Rooms

Cons:

None!

DH and I ate here in May for a romantic dinner. Overall, this is a very nice restaurant and had some of the best food I've had at Disney. I had the bison dish, cooked to the chef's recommendation (Med. Rare). It was very good- tender, delicious. It was accompanied by the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had, no joke. I'm not sure what it was made with, but it was heavenly...creamy with a bit of a crunch on the top. Caramelized onions paired very well with the bison.

DH had the scallops, which were a bit disappointing. They were fine, but we were expecting more. Specifically, we were told that they were very large, but these must have been out of season or something, because they were pretty average looking scallops. DH was not "wowwed" by it and decided he would rather have the Caribbean dish that was being offered (can't remember exactly) next time we dine there.

Our server was very friendly and knowledgable and even gave us some kids' menus and crayons to take home to our children, who were not with us for this trip.

The ambiance is relaxing, although we were disappointed not to be seated near a view.

Pros:

Service, ambiance, menu, bison is wonderful!

Cons:

Pricey, scallops were lackluster

Review of Coronado Springs Resort (Moderate Resort)

We just got back a few days ago from a 6 night stay at Coronado over Memorial Day weekend. We went mostly for Star Wars Weekend. This was our second time staying at CSR, and I have to say its even more beautiful than I remember it, but then everything was in bloom on this trip! Our last stay here was in Dec/Jan 2010, and so cold we didn't even get to use the pool. The resort was completely sold out most nights with a few different conventions there, but we barely noticed unless we went to El Centro for something. The buses were great, I think the longest we ever waited was 10 minutes, and most times it was less than 5 minutes.

I had booked a standard room only (passholder rates) and requested only one thing - close to transportation. We wound up in Rancheros 7B, which was a bit of a hike to El Centro - about 7 min, but I'm a fast walker. We could however see bus stop 3 from our window, which was very close, and perfect for us. It was also close to he Dig site, which is a great pool. We spent Memorial Day at the pool, and while it was busy, it was not packed. I have to say we like the pool and slide better than AKL, where we've stayed the last couple of trips. Lunch choices at the pool were fairly good as well.

Pepper market worked out well for us. Lots of choices and everything was really good. I did takeout back to the room for breakfast most mornings which avoided the convention breakfast rush. BTW - the Creme Brûlée French toast is awesome, and enough for two people. Oh, and you can get *real* coffee in you mug at the expresso bar 🙂

Pros:

Lush grounds, dig site, queen beds, food choices

Cons:

Lots-of-walking
