Review of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (Magic Kingdom)

I'm not sure why the ratings are so low. This was our first trip to MVMCP, though we visit MK a few times a year, and after reading some of the reviews, I was very nervous that we'd be stuck in massive crowds and really not enjoy ourselves. But I have to say it was quite the opposite. We attended on Sun, Dec. 8. We visit MK many times a year, and at this party, we had the best position we've EVER had for fireworks, the parade, and very little wait time in lines...usually only as long as it took us to walk through the waiting area. The cookies and hot chocolate were nothing exceptional, but certainly satisfied us. I'd read that no one checked wristbands so many people were there who shouldn't be. Though I never saw anyone escorted out, I personally witnessed the cast members checking wristbands just to enter a store. And the crowds certainly thinned quickly after 7:00 pm. We all thought it was absolutely magical...one of the best days/nights we've EVER had at MK.

Pros:

small crowds, entertainment

Cons:

nothing

Review of Kona Cafe Breakfast

Finally we ate here!!!! Breakfast is my favorite meal so I was very excited to eat here. My hubby and I both had the Tonga Toast. I was concerned that it would be too sweet, but it was very good. Even my hubby who is not a huge breakfast fan, said "Mmmm! You have to try this berry sauce!" And of course, the Kona coffee was a big hit! Our service was slow. Slower than other tables. That would be the only negative.

Pros:

Great food

We were impressed with this quick service. We ate here several times during our stay at AKL. The chicken pita was outstanding! We had soups several times and they were always great! Breakfast was quick and yummy! For dinner you place your order with a cast member, given a pager, pay then wait for you food to be ready. For dinner, it took about 10 minutes. When we went down for breakfast, we assumed the process was the same, so we bypassed the hot breakfast line and opted for bakery items to save time. However, the process for breakfast is different. You order and receive your food at that same time, making it super quick! Wished we had realized this earlier!

Pros:

Good food, convienient

Cons:

Ordering process can be confusing

Third time eating here and still enjoyed it. We always love trying different salads, soups and entrees. If you are not adventurous, they do have some of the standard fair- roast beef, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese. But honestly- it's a great way to try something new!

Pros:

Food selection

Cons:

Tables close together

Mixed feelings- my spouse did not like his food and left most of it. My daughter and I split a chili cheese dog and actually really enjoyed it. The restaurant was very crowded. People were holding tables when they didn't even have their food yet. We had to venture down by the water, by the smoking area to find a place to sit. Not sure if the food was worth that!

Pros:

Cons:

crowded, no tables

Wow! A wonderful quick service gem! We had the lamb and chicken platter and the chicken wrap and were very pleased. We found the quality of food to be above standard for a counter service and wished we had discovered it long ago! One tip- we were a party of 3 and ordered 3 meals… we were beyond full and still left food on our plates. Plates can easily be shared!

Pros:

Food, entertainment

Cons:

none

Review of Le Cellier Lunch/Dinner

We were a little nervous about eating here after reading some of the recent reviews. We ate here a few years ago and loved it and wanted to try it again. Again, we found it outstanding! We were not on the dining plan and so the 2 table service credits was not an issue for us. We had the cheese soup (YUM!) Le Cellier mushroom filet and Le Cellier Poutine. My daughter, age 12, and I shared and had more than enough food. All the food was outstanding! No complaints at all! The poutine- fries with cheese and red wine gravy were so yummy I could have made a meal of just those!

Pros:

quality of food, service

Cons:

somewhat crowded restaurant

Review of Biergarten - Lunch/Dinner

We love Biergarten! The food makes my family very happy with so much to choose and try! The entertainment is fun, somewhat loud, but fun. Service was outstanding! I would have given this a "9", but our wait we had past our ADR brought this down. We waited an hour past our ADR- Disney must have had a glitch in their system because the crowd of people waiting was massive! Thankfully, the food made up for it!

Pros:

Food, entertainment

Cons:

Can be loud

We chose this restaurant for lunch while at Animal Kingdom because we knew our children would love the theming. The food was better than expected and we left stuffed! Our server was kind, funny, and personable, however the service was slow. Not sure where if was the kitchen or just the service, but it took over 90 minutes from the time we sat until I signed the check which was longer than we had hoped for. However, our kids really enjoyed the restaurant. My daughter said it was her favorite! A little tip- we had ADR's but they had a sign out front stating that they were taking walk ups!

Pros:

fun atmosphere

Cons:

slow

Review of Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House (Deluxe Resort)

AKL is a beautiful, warm, welcoming resort! The moment you step into the doors you are greeted with the tranquility of the resort. A great feeling after the hustle and bustle of the parks! We stayed in an Arusha View room and it was well worth the price. We had zebras, giraffes, and many more animals outside our balcony. What a treat to see while relaxing. The rooms are smaller than expected, but nicely done, and very comfortable. Plenty of drawer space, closet space and enough space to store your luggage under the beds. We found this to be very convienent with the kids suitcases and backpacks. The bathroom is small and does not leave much space for dressing. I wish the sink area had a curtain that you could close off for dressing as some of the other resorts have. House keeping was outstanding! We ate at Boma and at Mara which is the food court. Both were very good. Very impressed with the food court. Quick and easy to get in and out- not crowded at all! Being so far our it was a longer bus ride to the parks, however, we never waited longer than 5 or 10 minutes. The ride did not bother us. We used the kids club one night and we, and our son, were very happy with it. The pool area was fantastic. When we go back, I will be sure to schedule in more resort time!

Pros:

Unique, beautiful resort

Cons:

distance to parks, room size
