The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is about to make it even easier to go through security checkpoints at airports!

It was previously revealed that TSA PreCheck members are getting a Touchless ID process that will make the security checkpoint ordeal go by even faster. This service, however, is limited to ONLY 5 airlines at select airports. Here’s what you need to know…
TSA PreCheck is an already-streamlined process that allows you to skip the standby lines at the airport in favor of a dedicated screening area. The TSA PreCheck Touchless ID offering — however — takes TSA PreCheck to a whole new level with facial comparison/verification technology that makes this separate line go even faster.

Nulifying the need for identification cards and documents, this domestic program is intended to make PreCheck checkpoints run faster. Debuting this spring, the Touchless ID will be available to TSA PreCheck travelers with a valid passport at 65 American airports for passengers flying with the following 5 airlines:
- Alaska Airlines: ATL, DAL, DCA, DEN, DTW, HNL, HOU, IAD, IAH, JFK, LAS, LAX, MCI, MSP, MYS, ORD, PDX, PHL, SAT, SEA, SFO, SJC, SLC, SNA, STL
- American Airlines: ANC, ATL, AUS, BOS, BWI, CLT, DCA, DEN, DFW, DTW, EWR, FLL, HNL, HOU, IAD, IAH, JFK, LAS, LAX, LGA, MCI, MCO, MIA, MSP, MSY, OKC, ORD, PBI, PDX, PHL, PHX, SAT, SEA, SFO, SJC, SLC, SMF, SNA, TUL
- Delta Air Lines: ATL, BOS, CLT, DAL, DCA, DEN, DFW, DTW, EWR, HOU, IAD, IAH, JFK, LAS, LAX, LGA, MCI, MSP, ORD, PBI, PDX, PHL, SEA, SFO, SJC, SLC, SNA
- Southwest Airlines: ATL, BOS, CLT, DAL, DEN, DTW, IAD, HOU, LAS, LAX, LGA, MCI, OAK, ORD, PBI, PDX, PHL, SEA, SFO, SJC, SLC, SNA
- United Airlines: ATL, BOS, CLT, DCA, DEN, DFW, EWR, IAD, IAH, JFK, LAS, LAX, LGA, MCI, MSP, ORD, PBI, PDX, PHL, SEA, SFO, SJC, SLC, SNA
Interested passengers must opt in with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and/or United Airlines.

As previously stated, this option is available to TSA PreCheck members with a valid passport. Eligible passengers can head into their airline profile, verify their Known Traveler Number (KTN) and passport number, then select “Opt In” either through the airline profile or at check-in. You can then check your mobile boarding pass for the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID indicator.

Of note, even if you’re fully opted in, you are still required to bring a REAL ID with you as backup, and TSA officers have the right to ask to see it at any time.
