Many guests with food allergies or intolerances often say that Disney World is one of the best places to go to ensure that their food will be safe for them. A big reason for that is how seriously Disney chefs take allergies.

However, it’s looking like Disney World has now made a pretty big change to the process of letting restaurants know about your allergies when booking an Advance Dining Reservation. If you’re heading to the parks soon and need to be very careful about what you do and don’t eat, you NEED to know about this change.
We’d like to send a big thank you to @theparkhoppersociety on Instagram for letting us know about this change! We checked it out for ourselves, and unfortunately, it’s true — when you go to make your Advance Dining Reservation, you’ll no longer be able to put in your food allergies or intolerances ahead of time. When we checked it out on our My Disney Experience App, where we would normally put in our food allergies was skipped past.

Instead, the notification now reads that “Guests must notify their server about any allergy-friendly requests.” Disney also now says that while they do their best to mitigate cross-contamination, there’s no way they can guarantee any item is completely free of allergens. However, you can still ask to speak to Disney’s special diets and trained Cast Members when you arrive to ensure your safety. When we attempted to make a reservation on the Disney World website, the same thing happened.

When we clicked on the “Learn more about special dietary requests page,” we got taken to another page that talks more about Disney’s process. On that page, Disney says that while their restaurants take “reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requests,” they “cannot guarantee that they will be able to meet all requests.”

While it was good to mention allergies to your server anyway, it will now be an essential part of your dining experience moving forward.
