A Secret Disney Event Happens Soon, and We're Expecting Some MAJOR Celebrity Sightings

Picture this: it’s Christmas morning, you’re unwrapping your presents, and you’re listening to the Disney holiday parade on TV as The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration plays in the background. Ahh…the good life! Yes, it’s only October, but we’re already looking forward to allllll the holiday decorations and events coming to Disney World and Disneyland Resort this winter!

Each year, Disney premieres a holiday spectacular that you can watch from home called The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration. Here’s a little secret, though: the holiday festivities you see on your screen are actually filmed months in advance! In fact, a limited number of D23 members have the chance to be part of an overnight taping for the holiday event. Tickets sold out VERY quickly, but if you were lucky enough to grab a ticket, here’s what you can expect!

D23 Members had the chance to claim a spot in the audience for the Overnight Taping of The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, taking place OVERNIGHT at Disneyland Resort from October 24th–25th. That means that while this will be a fun night full of magic, it’ll also be a looooong one. Those who got a ticket will be expected to arrive at 11 PM on October 24th, and will be released the next morning around 6:30 AM. The event is now sold out, so no more tickets are able to be reserved.

You’ll get a chance to see all those live performances right in front of you, instead of through a TV screen, which also means you may get the chance to see some of your favorite celebrities up close! While Disney hasn’t released the list of celebrities that will be at this event (the behind-the-scenes details are HIGHLY confidential), last year’s taping included performances by Pentatonix, Elton John, John Legend, Leslie Odom, Jr., Seth MacFarlane, Liz Gillies, Anika Noni Rose, Ava Max, Carly Pearce, Auliʻi Cravalho, and SEVENTEEN.

However, it’s important to note that while this night will be lots of fun, this is what we in the film industry call an overnight shoot, and this event does require long periods of waiting, standing, and moving during the early hours of the morning. It may require a few takes to get the perfect shot, after all! But the chance to see yourself on camera when the special premieres? PRICELESS! Make sure to wear a festive outfit.

Speaking of outfits — Disney does warn that temperatures can drop at night, so be sure to dress accordingly. They encourage you to wear your best and favorite Disney holiday attire, because while this is filming in October, Disney is going to do all they can to make it look like it’s really the end of December! It’s pretty amazing to see how the park transforms for the holidays.
