ANOTHER big Disney World hotel perk has been quietly discontinued.

Disney’s just unleashed a flurry of announcements recently, including several price increases that range from food to souvenirs to tickets and experiences. But if you thought that might have been the only changes we would see lately, there’s one more that was a bit sneakier, you might have missed unless you were looking closely.
Choosing where you want to call “home” during your next Disney World vacation is no easy challenge. With literally dozens of options to choose from (and that’s just the hotel), there’s even more to decide when it comes to location, view preference, and how you want to get around to the parks during your stay.

Most of the time, it’s an easy choice to choose to stay at a Disney World hotel that’s near the parks rather than choosing to stay somewhere else a little further out. Usually, that decision is born out of convenience, location, and even a few extra perks Disney World offers its hotel guests, like early park admission and free parking.

But one of the more subtle perks of staying at a Disney World hotel has just been discontinued. Up until today, Disney World hotel guests were offered MagicBand+ designs to order at a discount. Most of these would range around $15 off your chosen design from what was available to order. Now, though, it seems Disney has quietly removed that discount language from their offered perks…

…and also from guest offerings of those browsing MagicBand+ choices to order.

Now, when you hover over designs in the option to order and customize, you’ll no longer notice a discounted price, and rather the full retail cost of the Magicband+ will be displayed.

This is certainly a divisive perk split between those who are faithful MagicBand+ users and collectors after their visits and those who prefer other methods of scanning into the park and their Disney World hotel room by key card, phone added to your mobile wallet, or by scanning a valid card linked to your smart watch.

When we reached out to Disney World Cast Members to inquire about the validity of the change, they confirmed that the perk was indeed discontinued going forward.

In any case, it’s a perk we’ll sorely miss, as there was no warning of the change, which could confuse those who initially booked their Disney World vacations with this perk still in place. However, it’s important to note that when booking Disney World hotels and packages, Disney always states in their terms and conditions that prices and offerings are subject to change without notice. It seems this is just one of the perks Disney has justified in discontinuing for upcoming stays at their hotels.

They could have at least left the perk in place for those already booked. Sad to see that Disney is not taking care of their guests, just “taking”.
This is a good example of “nickel & dime-ing” already $ stressed Disney Guests. Very shortsighted & unneeded. Disney could & should have been more Customer Centric & left this alone. Bad form Disney, bad form.
