If you’ve been planning an upcoming Disney World trip, you’ve probably been putting a lot of thought into the Lightning Lane Multi Pass!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is something all guests strongly consider when visiting Disney World, especially if you only have a short period of time at the parks. Yes, they can make for an easier trip and a smoother trip, but there is always room for improvement with the system. To be honest, we have some thoughts on what could be changed or implemented.
If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!
Disney World’s Lightning Lane passes provide access to the park’s “Lightning Lanes” for rides and shows that are included under that umbrella. Essentially, the service lets guests bypass Standby lines for select attractions by making an extra purchase on the My Disney Experience app. There are three types of Lightning Lane passes available to buy for all four parks. This includes Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, and Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Let’s get one thing clear, which is obviously the elephant in the room — we are aware that the BEST thing to do with Lightning Lane is to make it free again and basically BRING BACK FAST PASS (please Disney)! That’s something nearly every Disney fan wants, but besides the price or making the service free again, here are some rule changes we’d love to see with Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Exclusive Discounts for Disney’s Most Loyal Fans
We’ve always wondered why Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and Disney Visa Cardholders don’t get discounts on Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Magic Key Holders get discounts over at Disneyland Resort from time to time; however, we don’t think we’ve ever seen it at Disney World.

Being a Disney Annual Passholder, I don’t really have any incentive or urge to pay for Lightning Lane. After all, I can just come back and do what I missed another day. If there were a discount for all three, but APs especially, there might be more desire to buy one. Otherwise, you can just come.

Character Meet-and-Greets
Disney World used to offer Lightning Lane for character meet-and-greets, until stopping in 2024 when the Genie+ system was replaced with Multi Pass.

Disney never specifically stated why they made this change. Maybe it was easier to manage operations and crowd flow. That being said, we’d love to see it come back as it made for a great time saver for guests who wanted to meet characters and were willing to use some of their Lightning Lane choices on those experiences. The same thing goes for parade viewing, which was also removed in 2024.

Swapping/Trading Your Ride or Time
Another thing we would love to see implemented into Lightning Lane Multi Pass would be the ability to swap or trade your Lightning Lane for a new ride time or a new ride entirely, after missing your window. This would act as insurance or something to fall back on if anything unexpected happens during your park day.

We’ve all been there: you’re waiting in line for Rise of the Resistance, and then you realize the ride has been delayed. You’ve already waited an hour and a half, and you NEED to experience it, so you wait it out. As a result, you miss your Lightning Lane window. We think having the ability to trade or swap your Lightning Lane for a new time frame or a new ride, in case of a ride delay or breakdown, would be a great addition!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be a great option for you on your next Disney World vacation. They definitely help save you time, and when you’re at the parks, time is money! For more Disney news and updates, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars.
