BIG NEWS out of Magic Kingdom that you need to know about RIGHT NOW!

Disney announced at Destination D23 in late August that Cinderella Castle would be repainted from the 50th Anniversary colors back to the classic blue and white, but didn’t give us a timeframe on when to expect it. That’s all changing now, though, because we now know exactly when this change will be taking place!
According to Scott Gustin, Disney has now announced that the repainting of Cinderella Castle will begin in January 2026! This means that scaffolding will likely be put up in front of the castle for quite some time while painting takes place, so getting fantastic photos of the castle may become much harder. Once the repainting starts, the cranes will be lowered and out of sight by noon each day so you can still have that castle magic! The work is supposed to finish later next year.

Starting on January 28th, you’ll also see changes to the Let The Magic Begin welcome show, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, and Happily Ever After.

We know there’s nothing more iconic than that photo on Main Street, U.S.A. in front of the castle, but we are happy to share that there are other spots you can get beautiful photos that may not be behind scaffolding at the time of your visit, as it’s unlikely the ENTIRE castle will be covered by scaffolding at one time. One of our other favorite views of the castle is from the left side, on the pathway you take to head from Liberty Square into Fantasyland.

On the right side, the pathway from Main Street into Tomorrowland OR the side pathway from Fantasyland back onto Main Street isn’t bad either!

Finally, the backside of the castle is also gorgeous, though lots of people forget about this beautiful view. Yes, again, we know it’s not the classic photo, but if it’s a choice between a mostly-scaffolding-free photo behind the castle or a photo in front with lots of gray in front of it, we have a feeling we know what you’ll go with.
