There’s one spot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that’s basically waving a white flag…and no one seems to notice.

We’re talking about Pizzafari — a quick service location that, for some reason, Disney just keeps trying to make happen. Between the underwhelming pizza and pasta dishes that seem to rotate in and out with zero fanfare, it’s giving big “struggle bus” energy. If you’ve ever wandered into this spot thinking, “Hey, pizza sounds safe!” — we’ve got some thoughts you need to hear before you do it again.
Thinking of Grabbing a Slice?
Let’s just rip the band-aid off: the pizza here is not exactly the greatest. If you’ve been to Disney World before, you probably already know the infamous “Disney pizza” reputation — fluffy crust and just enough cheese to technically qualify it as pizza. That’s Pizzafari in a nutshell. The individual pizzas are baked in bulk, and it shows. They’re consistently a little too chewy and too soggy at the same time.

And look, we want to like it. Animal Kingdom doesn’t have a ton of quick service options, so in theory, Pizzafari should be a decent pick when you’re hot, tired, and just want something easy. But in practice, it’s rarely worth the cost — especially when other nearby options do so much better for the same price (or less). However, we will say this is usually a solid option for those picky eaters.
The Pasta Experimentation Is… Not It.
Every now and then, Pizzafari tries to break out of the pizza box by adding pasta dishes to the menu. We’ve seen options like creamy pesto pasta and even a chicken parmesan with marinara pasta version at one point. You’d think this would be an improvement — switch it up a little, right?

These pasta dishes always look more promising on the menu board than they do in person. Most of the time, they come out overcooked, swimming in sauce that feels either way too rich or totally flavorless, and somehow colder than they should be. We’ve given them multiple chances over the years, but we’re usually left with the same reaction.

It honestly feels like Disney doesn’t know what to do with this space, so they keep tossing new ideas at the wall, hoping something sticks — but nothing ever quite does.
You’ve Got Better Options in the Same Park
The most frustrating thing about Pizzafari is that you don’t have to settle for mediocre. Right across the park, Flame Tree Barbecue continues to crush it with big portions and solid flavor.

If you’re a vegetarian or looking for lighter options, Satu’li Canteen over in Pandora is easily one of the best quick service spots in any park, not just Animal Kingdom.

Even a snack-heavy day from places like Harambe Market or Mr. Kamal’s can leave you feeling more satisfied than a full meal from Pizzafari.

So why is Pizzafari still hanging on? It could be the convenience — it’s front and center near Discovery Island, and the air conditioning is strong. The seating is massive and indoors, which definitely makes it a popular retreat when it’s hot or raining.
Here’s What We’d Love to See Instead
We’re not rooting for Pizzafari to close, but we are begging for something better. The restaurant has some really fun theming inside. Each room is decorated with bright murals and bold colors that actually feel joyful and unique. If the food could live up to the vibe, this spot could be a home run.

What if Disney reimagined the menu to focus on fresh, Mediterranean-inspired flatbreads? What if they leaned into bold flavors and offered something different from the typical “kid-approved” lineup? Pizzafari has the space, the location, and the potential. It just needs a major culinary glow-up.
We’ll keep checking back to see if things change (because we’re always rooting for a comeback story). But for now, unless you’re absolutely out of options or desperate for A/C, we’d recommend steering clear. Your taste buds will thank you.
