LIVE UPDATES: Come With Us To See the NEW Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is officially opening on December 17th and we couldn’t be more excited!

The new tower will feature a new restaurant, a stunning terrace garden, a new splash pad, a pool, and by the looks of it — some excellent vibes. We got the chance to tour this new hotel before it officially opens and we’re taking you along with us!

The NEW Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort opens in just a few short days and we’re giving you a FIRST LOOK at it all!

The new tower is home to a new restaurant, a new splash pad and pool, and a beautiful terrace garden and we can’t wait to check it all out. Let’s get into it!

Disney greeted us with live drummers as we approached Island Tower this morning. We’re already getting in the Polynesian mood.

The gorgeous lobby features an art panel in the ceiling inspired by the Polynesian Islands with wildlife native to those places. According to Disney, “each animal holds a strong connection to the islands and symbolizes values important to Polynesians.”

Imagineers worked with dozens of artists from all over the world to create artwork that was unique to the new villas. There will be preserved moss walls, sculptures made from recycled fishing nets, and more all meant to be “inspired by the spirit of conservation and embody the rich cultures of Polynesia.”

Here’s a view of the lobby from the second floor.

As you can see, you’ll find elements from Moana woven throughout the entire property. But the main concept comes from Disney’s original ideas visions for the Polynesian DECADES ago.

As you can see, the lobby is stunning.

Rooms

There are several different room types at the Island Tower that sleep from two to nine guests and will include duo studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Many of the rooms will also have great views. Let’s take a look at the hallways that lead to the rooms. Going back to the Moana elements, we spotted a fish hook on the wall (but we don’t think it’s Maui’s).

You’ll also find a lot of other Polynesian-inspired artwork is hanging on the hallway walls.

The artwork is GORGEOUS.

Terrace Gardens

The Terrace Gardens feature “vibrant artwork, lush foliage, and uniquely themed seating areas” as an exclusive location for DVC members and Island Tower guests to explore.

These four areas will be a great place for families and groups to gather and enjoy while they are staying at Disney World. We met Moana there!

These areas offer views of Disney’s two golf courses, Oak Trail and Magnolia Golf Courses, and Seven Seas Lagoon. The view of Seven Seas Lagoon will make it an amazing spot to view Magic Kingdom fireworks! This will be a huge perk for those that can experience it. If you’ve been to the Top of the World lounge and experienced a fireworks show from there, you’ll know how spectacular these rooftop views can be.

Wailulu Bar & Grill

Wailulu Bar and Grill will serve lunch and dinner, and then specialty coffee and on-the-go pastries for breakfast. It will open on December 17th with the rest of the tower, and you can check out the menu here! We got to sample some of the menu at the media event.

Did you know that this is the first all-electric restaurant EVER at Disney World? That’s a little fact we just learned.

The food here is all based on traditional Polynesian cooking, so yes, you’ll see a Spiced Ham (SPAM) Musubi on the menu, as well as Sweet Potato Hummus, and a unique take on Loco Moco. Also, the drinks here are super unique.

Moana’s Voyage Splash Pad

Moana’s Voyage Splash Pad features Moana’s outrigger boat and plenty of fun water features for the kiddos.

We can play here, too, right?

Cove Pool

This new pool joins the already existing Lava and Oasis Pools at the Polynesian and features a courtyard with a sandy beach area, whirlpool spa, and views of Seven Seas Lagoon.
