TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of Walt Disney World’s newest attractions and arguably one of the most popular attractions.

Demand to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run is high, and there are currently only two ways to secure a ride on the Grid. But, what if we told you there was a third way to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run?
TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in Magic Kingdom in the spring of 2023. When the ride opened, Disney announced that there were two ways that guests could get a chance to ride.

The first way guests can ride is by securing a spot using Disney’s virtual queue system. Guests are not guaranteed a spot but can try to secure one at 7 AM and 1 PM on the My Disney Experience app for their party. If you are successful in getting a boarding group, you are likely to be met with a wait, which could take away from your park time.

The second way guests can ride TRON Lightcycle / Run is by paying for Individual Lightning Lane. Unlike virtual queue, this option is not free, and on average will cost each member in your party $20 to ride. These spots go fast so it is important to try to secure your spot right at 7 AM. This option can help save you time in the park with a shorter wait, compared to using a virtual queue. And you are given a specific return time when you buy, so it can help you with planning your day.

Now for the third option, Magic Kingdom has Disney After Hours, which is a special ticketed event that runs from now until June 27th. The event takes place on select nights and tickets run between $165- $175 per person. The event runs from 10 PM to 1 AM, but guests with tickets can enter the park starting at 7 PM.

So what does this have to do with riding TRON Lightcycle / Run? During this event, TRON Lightcycle / Run has a standby line. The ride does not offer this during normal operating hours. This option allows you to ride over and over again without having to worry about a virtual queue or Individual Lightning Lane. The line for this attraction is shorter since this is a special ticketed event and attendance is limited.

Not to mention, buying a ticket to Disney After Hours at Magic Kingdom Park also secures you access to shorter lines at other Magic Kingdom attractions. Your ticket also includes popcorn, ice cream novelties, and bottled beverages that can be picked up at outdoor vending carts throughout the park.

Although this event is a special ticketed event, it is nice to see Disney try a new way for guests to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run. This makes us wonder if Disney will eventually implement a stand-by line during normal operating hours.
