Welcome back, friends, we’ve got more Destination D23 news for you!

If you thought there was lots of news yesterday, we’re getting even MORE today and keeping you updated live from the event. Today, Disney chatted about its upcoming film Wish and shared more information with us!
The directors of Wish came out on stage and shared with us an important theme of the film — “There is no greater power in the universe than someone with a true wish in their heart.”

They also shared some details about the prominent characters in the film. Ariana DeBose will be voicing Asha, the main character…

…Alan Tudyk will voice Asha’s trusted sidekick and friend Valentino…

…and Chris Pine will voice King Magnifico.

Then Disney played the first 10 minutes of the film, which included two songs! While we weren’t able to take any photos or videos of the film or songs, here’s a breakdown of what we saw on screen: (WARNING: spoilers ahead)
Asha is conflicted in life, as she says she thought the truth would set her free, but she feels weighed down. She reflects on being told to sit down when she wants to speak, and that even though she’s young, she knows she’s not wrong. As the first song begins, Asha runs through her environment (it gave us strong “Into The Unknown” vibes from Frozen 2), and one star in the starry night shines bright, warming the area as if it were daylight. Asha is energized by the star, but it turns into a chaotic presence, running around as Asha tries to catch it.

The playful star brings mushrooms to life and gives a voice to the goat, Valentino. The animals are all gifted speaking voices and sing the second song, which we found very catchy and melodically pleasing. Parents, watch out — we have a feeling this will be a hit, and your kids will want it on repeat!

As a reminder, here’s a peek at the trailer Disney released back in April.
