We all know it’s true — one of the best parts of Disney is the food. With the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts officially underway, we’ve already tried some amazing treats. One popular treat at the Festival is the Pop’t Art — a fun take on a pop tart with a colorful decoration.

In case you won’t be visiting EPCOT for the Festival, we’ve got you covered with a recipe that’ll bring the Festival of the Arts to YOU. So put on your apron and get your creativity flowing, because you’re about to create some yummy art at home!
This International Festival of the Arts Pop’t Art recipe serves six and is simple enough to get the whole family involved. And one of our favorite things about this recipe is that it is easily customizable with different colors!

Note that this recipe is from a few years ago and is for the Pop’t Art with a chocolate hazelnut filling. In 2023, the Pop’t Art treat had a blueberry filling, and in some previous years, it has sometimes had a strawberry filling. So just be aware that it can vary from year to year if you do get to visit the Festival of the Arts!
Before we get to baking, let’s grab our ingredients. You’ll need:
Ingredients for Cookie Dough:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg white
- 2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Ingredients for Topping:
- 6 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread
Ingredients for Glaze:
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 3-4 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Food coloring
Now that you’ve gathered your ingredients, you’re ready to whip up your own masterpiece. These instructions are straightforward and simple enough for even the littles, so grab your cooking partners and let’s get started!
To Make the Sugar Cookie:
- Cream sugar and butter in a large bowl. Once fluffy, add egg white and beat for another minute. It’s recommended that you use an electric mixer with a paddle attachment to speed up this process.
- Slowly add in your sifted flour and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms. If using an electric mixer, use the medium-speed setting.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for half an hour.
- Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone baking mat.
- Flour your countertops and roll the dough into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut dough into six separate rectangles, about 3×5 inches.
- Place cookies on the baking sheet and bake until golden brown. This should take about 15 minutes.
- Cool for half an hour.
To Make the Topping:
- Spread a tablespoon of chocolate hazelnut spread on each cookie. Make sure to leave about a 1/8-inch border around the edges.
- Set aside for later.
To Make the Glaze:
- Using a whisk, mix powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of milk, and vanilla extract in a pie plate until smooth and free of lumps. If the glaze is too thick, add additional milk. If the glaze is too runny, add additional powdered sugar.
- Set aside 2 tablespoons of the glaze to use later.
- Dip each cookie into the glaze. The side with the chocolate hazelnut spread should be facing down so that the glaze covers the chocolate.
- Set aside to dry.
- Mix the 2 tablespoons of glaze with food coloring of your choice! Then, take a fork to drizzle the colored glaze on top of the cookies. (You could even theme your Pop’t Art treats as different Disney characters! Use yellow and purple for Figment, pink and purple for Rapunzel, or red and yellow for Winnie the Pooh!)
