Have you ever wondered what happens to the GIANT gingerbread house at Disney World after the holidays?

Every year at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this culinary construction project draws visitors from all over the world — but we may have found out who likes this gingerbread treat even MORE than Disney fans!

It turns out that Disney has a little bit of help when it comes to recycling the molasses monstrosity! Planned Work Specialist with Event Decorating Suppor, Barry Stockwell, revealed that 10 years ago, Disney “noticed [that] bees were very attracted to the sugar on the displays after deconstruction” when they were doing their annual clean-up. So, instead of throwing the gingerbread pieces in the trash, they head to a different destination!

Where does all of the gingerbread go after the holidays?

After the house is broken down, the pieces are taken to the Disney tree farm where the bees can collect the sugar. And, after they’ve eaten through it all, Disney washes the structures to reuse next year!
