The Destination D23 event is coming up this weekend at Disney World.

We’ve already seen the full schedule, and we’re getting VERY excited about the presentations and announcements that we’ll see during the event. Recently, Disney announced that Disney CEO Bob Chapek will not be able to attend the event. In D23’s recent interview with Chapek, he commented on the event, his absence, and more about Disney World’s upcoming attractions.
About Destination D23 this year, Chapek gave a teaser as to one exciting announcement that guests will hear during the event. He said that guests will get a sneak peek at the “Disney 100 Celebration Launch,” which will celebrate the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary.

The 100th Anniversary for Walt Disney Company is coming up soon in 2023, and we can’t wait to see how they plan to celebrate this occasion.

Chapek also commented on his absence from this year’s Destination D23 event. He said “I’m sorry. I had every intention of trying to make it this year. […] I really love that event. Unfortunately this year, given the new job and given the tugs I get from several different areas, it’s impossible for me to make it, but I will be there in spirit.”

D23 also asked Chapek about the Galactic Starcruiser — Disney World’s Star Wars hotel that’s opening next year. Chapek said he recently had a tour of the Starcruiser, and it’s “transformative.” He said, “I walked in — my jaw dropped.”

The Galactic Starcruiser puts guests in the middle of their own Star Wars story, which Chapek says is the epitome of the “Disney bubble.” When guests are in Disney World, Cast Members want them to feel like they’ve stepped out of reality and into a world of fantasy.

Chapek said that “Each of our hotels are themed, but not like this.” He also said “If this works — and I have every reason to believe it will — it’s going to be the model of what our hospitality will be in the future.” Could that mean that we’ll see more immersive hotels like this one in the future?

Chapek also commented on the future of Disney+ and which upcoming shows he’s most excited about. He said that two of the biggest are going to be the Hawkeye and Book of Boba Fett shows, but the things he’s most excited personally to see come to Disney+ are Disenchanted and Hocus Pocus 2.
