NEWS: Mobile Food Delivery Service to Come to Orlando International Airport

This past year has seen a lot of developments in terms of public safety and streamlining processes with food and travel. This has been especially evident with all the changes implemented at theme parks like Disney World and Universal, but also in other travel spaces as well.

Now, Orlando International Airport looks like it wants to implement more changes of its own, specifically with mobile ordering.

One of the biggest developments of 2020 at Disney World was the rise of Mobile Ordering. The process of pre-ordering quick-service food from a theme park restaurant quickly became the go-to norm for snacking and eating.

Barring any hiccups or unexpected crowds, it’s been such a smashing success that it’s no wonder the local airport would want to get in on the mobile action as well!

According to Orlando Business Journal, Orlando International Airport is currently looking for a tech firm to design a mobile ordering and delivery app that would enable travelers to seamlessly order food and drink in the North Terminal.

A request for proposals is to go out in June, and a five-year contract will be granted in October, wherein the selected firm will get at least 10% of revenue from mobile orders at the airport.

Not only has Mobile Ordering been popularized in theme parks, but other airports across the country, like Philadelphia International Airport and LAX, have implemented their own ordering platforms.

So it really was only a matter of time that Orlando followed suit, especially considering the steadily increasing influx of travelers returning to vacation routines.
