5 Disney Movies I Can’t Believe Don’t Have Restaurants

Over the last 70+ years, Disney has built numerous restaurants recreating the environments of their most famous films. From Pinocchio’s Village Haus to the Beauty and the Beast-themed Be Our Guest, these eateries transport guests into their favorite films through food and theming. However, for every Disney film that has been physically recreated, there are many that have been left untouched in the Disney vaults.

These are some we’d love to see come to fruition one day.

Hunchback of Notre Dame

While Disney’s 1996 adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel doesn’t have a specific restaurant that’s central to its plot, it does have a massive celebration sequence: The Festival of Fools!

Imagine attending an immersive dining experience themed to the festival, complete with a delicious spread of foods and a troop of performers led by Clopin? This could potentially be a headline dining experience at Hollywood Studios or the France Pavilion at World Showcase. It could even work on a future Disney cruise ship, in the same vein as the Frozen and Coco dining experiences on the Wish and the Treasure.

Ratatouille (In the U.S.)

Back in 2014, the Walt Disney Studios theme park (now known as Disney Adventure World) at Disneyland Paris opened a full area dedicated to Ratatouille. It included the Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy attraction and the Bistrot Chez Rémy restaurant, which is based on the restaurant featured in the culinary-centric film.

Pear, Chestnut, and Duck Pâté en Croûte

The ride was cloned over to EPCOT’s France Pavilion as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in 2021, and has been one of Walt Disney World’s most popular rides. However, the restaurant didn’t follow suit with a U.S. clone. While it can be argued that EPCOT’s France already had one too many restaurants and another would be redundant, the whole Ratatouille area of the park feels a bit incomplete without it. Besides, who doesn’t want to eat in a to-scale Chez Rémy?

Toy Story

Okay, this one needs a caveat. Yes, there have been several Toy Story-themed restaurants — including the Roundup Rodeo BBQ at Hollywood Studios — but there has never been a faithful recreation of the film’s Pizza Planet location.

Sure, there have been locations that have used the name at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, all of which were simple pizza locations with minimal, at best, theming. What I would love to see is a full-scale recreation of Pizza Planet from the film, both the massive facade on the outside as well as the themed arcade on the inside, perhaps with the “real” Toy Story toys scattered about. The restaurant could work at the entrance to Toy Story land, and its exit could even serve as the transition when guests become toy-sized and head “home” to Andy’s yard.

Mary Poppins

Yes, a second entry that needs a caveat. See, there are a few restaurants across Disney property with light Mary Poppins thematic touches, but once again, I’m thinking bigger. Perhaps something where Disney is able to replicate the illusion of tea on the ceiling? This could be a welcome addition to the World Showcase U.K. Pavilion and even make up for the canceled Mary Poppins attraction from the late 2010s.

Bob’s Burgers

Yes, Disney owns Bob’s Burgers, and yes, the company released the Bob’s Burgers movie. Both of which means, YES DISNEY COULD OPEN A REAL LIFE BOB’S BURGERS!

It could probably fit well in Disney Springs, with a menu of rotating burgers (perhaps from one of the official Bob’s Burgers cookbooks?) while physically recreating the set from the mega-popular animated series.

These are just a few of the many Disney films that could one day have a fantastic themed dining experience at Walt Disney World. Stay tuned to AllEars for more takes.
