NEW Look at Disney's Roaming Olaf Animatronic

It’s almost time for the new World of Frozen land to open in Disneyland Paris, and we’ve been extra excited ever since we heard that a roaming Olaf animatronic would be coming to both Disneyland Paris AND Hong Kong Disneyland.

While Disney still hasn’t announced an official date for the addition of this cuddly character to Hong Kong Disneyland, we have a feeling Olaf will arrive in Disneyland Paris at the opening of the new land on March 29th, and it’s possible we could see him arrive in Hong Kong Disneyland around the same time — especially since we just got a NEW look at him moving around the park!

In a new video released by Hong Kong Disneyland, we can see Olaf wandering around the land, and even interacting with two Cast Members! The description of the video says he’s “landing soon,” but that’s all the information we have right now.

Back in November 2025, Disney revealed in their Call It Imagineering series on YouTube that they are going to be debuting these “next generation robotics” early in 2026. Yes, that means Olaf isn’t the only one!

Olaf looks genuinely so realistic from the videos we’ve seen, and that’s partly due to the snow-like shimmer on his body that is enhanced by iridescent fibers. This character’s animatronic form is built upon different designs like the BDX droids that you can sometimes see roam around Galaxy’s Edge, but he was more challenging due to being an animated character with non-physical movements.

Olaf’s “snow,” which is what Disney calls the outer layer of the character, moves differently from the hard shells of other robotic characters, posing another unique challenge. He can fully articulate his mouth, eyes, removable carrot nose, and arms — yes, you read that right, he can remove his own carrot nose. That’s WILD and we can’t wait to see it in person!
