Disney Made Major Announcements – But Forgot This HUGE One

Uhm, hey Disney? Did you forget to announce something?

February 2nd was the Walt Disney Company’s Quarter 1 earnings meeting, and sometimes, Disney likes to sneak in new information about the company. While we do get to hear about all of the revenue, profit, and costs for different segments of the company, they’ll sometimes add new movie information and details for upcoming expansions for the parks. This time, we had something pretty specific we were hoping Disney would announce, and well, we didn’t get the news.

Current CEO Bob Iger is expected to step down from his position this month, according to the Los Angeles Times, and pass the reins to the next person. We thought this earnings call might be a great time for this announcement, but Disney had other plans, and we did not find out who will be replacing Bob Iger.

There are a few popular names floating around to take his spot, including Chairman of Disney Experiences, Josh D’Amaro, or Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, Dana Walden. Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment Alan Bergman and ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro are also names that have come up.

So, when is Disney going to announce the next CEO? Since Iger is reported to leave by the end of February, we’re expecting it soon. We know Disney likes to cut it close with deadlines (like when they say a ride will open by the end of summer and it opens literally the last week of summer), so it might be closer to the end of the month. We’re not expecting any large events or meetings open to the public in the meantime, but this doesn’t mean it won’t be announced. Disney can post a statement whenever they want to announce the next CEO.
