Okay, Disney World. Is This Chaotic Park Trend Officially Here to Stay?

Walt Disney World is home to two of the world’s most popular water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. However, over the last few years, their operations have been a bit… chaotic.

Blizzard Beach

After years of both parks operating simultaneously, the two parks moved to an alternating schedule after the pandemic, with one open while the other was closed. Until 2025,  when a new water park perk for Walt Disney World hotel guests changed everything when it comes to the water parks… and left things potentially more confusing going forward.

Starting in 2025, Disney World added a complimentary water park ticket perk! These tickets are only valid on the date of check-in, allowing guests to dive right into the fun the minute they enter the Disney bubble every day from January 1st to December 31st, 2025.

Typhoon Lagoon

Given that this water park ticket alone can cost up to $74 per adult, the complimentary ticket was too good of a deal to pass up! Especially since they were able to head over to the park even before their room was ready by leaving their luggage checked at the front desk.

Initially, the water parks were still on their alternating schedule during the early months of 2025, meaning that there was only one option each day for guests who were checking in. However,  that changed during the summer.

Perhaps because Disney realized that if all resort guests had chosen to go to a water park on the day of their check-in and there was only ONE water park open in the hottest months of the year things would get pretty chaotic, BOTH Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon were open during the summer months. The parks returned to their alternating operations in the fall of 2025.

Things are set to remain chaotic into 2026. See, Disney has announced that the water perk ticket perk WILL be available to Disney World hotel guests again in 2026, but only during the summer months as opposed to all year round. The specific dates have yet to be confirmed, nor has it been established both parks will be open to accommodate these guests as they were in 2025.  Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest updates surrounding it here on All Ears!

  1. The one water park at a time is nothing more than more tightening of the purse strings. One set of staff moving between parks and half the running costs. As always profit above experience

  2. This a great promotion for WDW that most can not take advantage of. Guest first day to SO unpredictable. Weather , travel delays, other plans.
WDW can promote a perk that does not cost them anything and will not be able to use.
