Disney World may be the “Most Magical Place on Earth”, but that doesn’t mean things are always covered in pixie dust!
Sure, the majority of a Disney vacation involves wholesome interactions, funny moments, and genuine excitement, but there are also some elements of Disney vacations – and guest behavior – that make us CRINGE.
We want to talk about these cringey trends because we hope that we can see these trends go away. So, let’s get to the 5 cringey trends that we have been seeing in Disney World!
Being Rude to Cast Members
Unfortunately, this is something we see a fair amount while we are in the parks. We get that the parks are crowded, it is hot, and sometimes things aren’t completely “magical” but that shouldn’t mean the frustration gets taken out on Cast Members. We know that a lot of money has been spent on your Disney vacation but most of the time, the situation that you are dealing with is not that Cast Member’s fault. And let’s also be real, few times does anger fix a situation or make things better. Kill them with kindness!
We hate seeing Cast Members being treated badly and we don’t think it is ever the proper response. Cast Members want to help and the best way to communicate with them is to treat them with respect and kindness. And don’t forget to send out those Cast Compliments, they mean so much to Cast Members!
Lack of Stroller Etiquette
We know it can be confusing sometimes to know what to do with a stroller. Some rides have designated areas right out front, while others ask you to park them in areas off to the side. In some cases, you can bring the stroller with you, while other places require you to leave it somewhere.
It can be confusing and frustrating when you can’t figure out where to put it, but we are constantly seeing strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs being parked where they aren’t supposed to. Usually that means Cast Members have to move them to the correct spot and not only does the Cast Member now have more work to do, but you will likely be even more frustrated when your stroller or wheelchair isn’t where you left it.
If you are ever confused on where you should be parking a stroller or wheelchair, be sure to ask a Cast Member. They would be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Trying to Get Characters to Break Character
This is something we have been seeing quite a bit on TikTok, and we are not fans. We have seen TikTokers that meet characters and try to find ways to get them to break character. Interacting with characters is meant to be a fun experience for both parties, and it shouldn’t include trying to trick the character or get them to act unlike their character.
While we know this likely isn’t the norm for most park guests, it is something we have been seeing more and more on social media. We highly encourage you to look up topics to talk about if you feel awkward about character interactions, but trying to trick the character is not a trend we support.
Disney World is one of our favorite places and we hate when certain cringey trends start taking over the parks. However, even with some cringey trends, we are constantly having amazing moments in the parks! From seeing a child seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time, to seeing reactions from people getting off rides, we love getting to spend every day in the parks.
Recording ENTIRE Fireworks Shows
We love taking pictures and photos at Disney World, and certainly, fireworks shows are some of the most photogenic memories worth capturing at the resort. However, there’s a difference between snapping a few pics or short videos and recording the entirety of a 20-minute presentation.
You’re never going to watch it; it’s not going to look great or capture the moment if you tried to, and your phone is likely blocking the view of those around you.
People Blasting Their Phones in Queues
Smartphones have certainly changed the game as far as waiting in queues at Walt Disney World, giving guests young and old alike a litany of distractions as they wait. We implore you, though, please don’t blast your media for everyone to hear, or broadcast any conversations you choose to have on speaker. Throw an AirPod in.

The cringiest trend is constantly seeing influencers filming everywhere.
I’ve noticed the things you speak of more and more in the last few years at WDW. I’m not lucky enough to be there everyday but go several times a year. I’ve seen people abandoning rental strollers and wheelchairs in places they shouldn’t be like just being left out in a vast parking lot at one of the parks. Unfortunately, I’ve also noticed a lot more cast members standing in groups of 2 or 3 conversing and chit chatting their personal issues instead of being attentive to customers. They also don’t seem to know the answers to questions.
