REVIEW: We’re Still Drooling Over This Cheese Bread in Disneyland

Planning a trip to Disneyland and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? Luckily, you’ve come to the right place!

Let’s eat!

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Wine Country Trattoria at Disney California Adventure and are bringing you our FULL review!

Background

In Disney California Adventure, you can experience the “Napa Valley’s passion for wine and fresh seasonal fare” at Wine Country Trattoria!

Wine Country Trattoria at Disney California Adventure

This table restaurant offers Italian dishes, healthy selections, vegetarian options, and more than 25 wine options. Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

This restaurant is located in the Performance Corridor of the park and offers a Mediterranean garden setting to dine in.

Wine Country Trattoria

The restaurant features a limestone fountain, fresco-covered walls, tile floors, and wood-beam accents similar to a Tuscan villa.

The patio

It’s a great place to kick back and enjoy a glass of wine. But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

During our stop at the restaurant, we indulged in the World of Color Dining Package for $73 per adult. It’s a 3-course prix fixe meal that includes a starter, entrée, and dessert, plus a nonalcoholic beverage, and it gives you reserved seating for World of Color – Happiness! We opted out of this due to price, but wanted you to know that it is an option.

For our starter, we grabbed the Pull-Apart Cheese Bread.

The pull-apart cheese bread!
It’s made with sun-dried tomato focaccia, whipped herb ricotta, mozzarella, romato coulis, chile flakes, and micro herbs. The bread crust was nice and crispy, while the inside was perfectly soft. The cheese is high quality and pulls apart perfectly.
A look at the inside!
That being said, it’s not overtly cheesy and has just the right amount. The flavors were amazing, and the chili flakes added the smallest amount of kick to the otherwise earthy tones. Each bite had a flavor explosion, and the sauce carried a wonderful Italian aroma and flavor. This was also super shareable!
This was delicious!

Next, we had the Rib Eye Steak with marscapone, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, balsamic pearl onions, glazed baby carrots, and a porcini mushroom demi-glace.

The Rib Eye Steak!

We ordered this medium rare; however, it was slightly overcooked once we received it. That being said, it was still tender and seasoned really well. If you’re sensitive to pepper, you might be turned off by this. It was a high-quality cut of meat, but we wouldn’t say it was top tier compared to other options around the resort. The pearl onions were tasty and caramelized. The carrots were earthy and added a natural flavor, lightening up the dish.

The pearl onions!

The potatoes were fantastic thanks to their herb seasoning. They were super light and packed a surprising amount of flavor, making them the best side on the dish. While this might not be the best steak we’ve ever had, it was good, and it was priced fairly, especially for the size.

A look inside!

Finally, we tried the Peaches & Cream Crème Brûlée Tart. It’s a plant-based option with whipped chantilly cream and oat streusel. The peaches were fresh, and the crème brûlée flavor adds a nice smokiness.  The caramelized sugar and tart crust give the dessert a great crunch.

Peaches and Cream Tart

The cream custard has a soft peach flavor, so don’t expect any noticeable vanilla if that’s what you’re looking for. The peach whipped cream was really earthy, and not our preference for the dish. The oat streusel was an oat bar that we weren’t fans of because it didn’t add anything to the dish. The tart on its own is fantastic; however, it could do without everything else.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disneyland restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You need a nice place to relax
  • Want a high-quality, easy meal
  • Or you want to join in the World of Color dining package

You should skip this Disneyland spot if…

  • You want a quick meal
  • You aren’t a wine drinker
  • You want to dine inside

This spot has ample seating, and it’s usually easy to get a reservation here! The food is a step above most other restaurants in this park, but we would still put Carthay Circle at the top. It’s pricey, but if it’s a nice day and you can swing it, it’s worth the visit. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disneyland and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
