NEWS: Unexpected Construction Has Popped Up at Disney’s Port Orleans Hotel

Lots of things happen in Disney World each and every day, but since we’re also there each day, very little happens that surprises us.

However, when we saw this construction happening over at Port Orleans French Quarter, we found ourselves confused, to say the least, because it wasn’t planned. We’ve done some research, and as it turns out, something may have happened that we NEVER saw coming.

Port Orleans French Quarter allows easy transportation to Port Orleans Riverside if you don’t mind taking a walk or boat/bus transportation, but it looks like some interesting construction is happening on one of the bridges.

Thanks to some sleuthing by a reader who sent these photos in to us, the difference between yesterday and today is pretty drastic. Yesterday, if you look closely, you can see that part of the top of the bridge is gone, and the boats and walkways around the bridge were totally closed off. When our reader asked about what had happened, the story they were told is that a trash truck ran into the top of the bridge, damaging it; however, Disney has not confirmed anything.

Something’s up with that bridge…

Today, just 24 hours later, the entire top of the bridge is GONE! The walkways and waterways are back open, we’re assuming, because there’s no danger of part of the bridge falling onto someone walking on the pathway or on a boat.

The top is totally gone!

We’re curious to see when the bridge may be repaired and fixed — it could be something they look at doing pretty soon, or they may hold off since there are so many other projects happening at the same time all across the resort, and the bridge is stable as it is.
