REVIEW: This Epic Universe Treat Is 99.9% Guaranteed To Make You Smile

With Epic Universe opening, there are TONS of new dining options available in the parks, and we’re here to try them all!

Celestial Park

Sometimes when you’re in the park, you’re in need of a sweet treat, and that’s what brought us right to Frosty Moon in Celestial Park. But is this fun, whimsical ice cream worth it? We found out for you!

Background & Atmosphere

This is a walk-up stand in Celestial Park with very little seating around, so it’s more of a grab-and-go spot! You can take your ice cream to one of the many benches around the hub area, or take it on the go as you head into a new land.

There’s not a lot of shade here, though, so your ice cream will melt fast in the sun! This is a great open spot to really take in the beauty of the land around you, which we love! However, if we could get some seating, especially a few tables and chairs under the awning for some shade, we think it’d make a world of a difference.

Food

The menus here are located inside the ordering window, and since it’s often so bright out, you can’t read them until you get up to the window. The flavors of soft serve available are:

  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Cheesecake
  • Strawberry Yum
  • Cookie Butter
  • Vegan Vanilla

This soft serve costs $7.99 for a cup and $8.49 for a cone, and included in the cost are any of the following two toppings:

  • Mini marshmallows
  • Brownie pieces
  • Streusel Cake pieces
  • Oreo crumble
  • Strawberry cheesecake pieces
  • Celestial sprinkles
  • Star sprinkles
  • Birthday sprinkles

The first cone we tried was strawberry yum soft serve with mini marshmallows and celestial sprinkles in a waffle cone. The mini marshmallows are freeze-dried, similar to what’s in Lucky Charms cereal, and we loved the way they provided a different texture to the ice cream. The strawberry yum ice cream tasted like GOOD artificial strawberry and had a great consistency — almost a similar consistency to the ice cream you get from the McDonald’s soft serve machine. Overall, we enjoyed it! And just look at the cone — this is practically guaranteed to make you smile, right?

Our second choice was a Cookie Butter Cone with Brownies and Gold Star Sprinkles. Again, we thought the soft serve was good quality, but the flavor had a strange smokiness to it, and it almost reminded us of coffee ice cream instead. Be warned — cookie butter is NOT the same as cookie dough.

Now, let’s talk toppings. The brownie pieces were AMAZING! They were very moist and soft, and the sprinkles here added a great texture difference that we appreciated.

So, is this spot really worth the cost?

Celestial Park

Overall, we’d say this place is fun, but it’s nothing to write home about. The soft serve here is fun, and the toppings are a great way to customize your treat. We think it’s a great spot if you’re really craving some classic ice cream or don’t want something too adventurous, but otherwise, there are other areas in the park (like the Ministry of Magic) that have more impressive desserts.
